Not only the addition to having dogs as companions in the game which is great if they could nail the animation of it and realism which Im sure they can. Ive just seen so many games try such things (aka Fable) and not really succeed. But in that announcement they also made mention of both Sony and Microsoft liking the attention enough to allow console release for it as well. I think its great for warhorse as it opens there market 3 fold. I personally think Ill be sticking with the PC release just because we all know the modders will have hella fun with this which a lot of times makes improvements the devs didn’t have time for or didn’t want to add like say …oh I don’t know a 3rd person camera lol.
Have some pets could be a great idea and usefull (if playing as a thief ?) dogs of differents breeds, why not mullets as living chest in addition to the horse inventory ? Or even others animals, everything is possible.
However for 1.000.000£ I am hoping a huge surprise, like the performance motion capture ( I think it’s awesome)
I realy like to have a dog =)
I know that maybe someone alredy asked this but, stretch goals will continue after kickstarter end?
I’ve seen comment from @warhorse that it would be the case. There will be additional stretch goals but they will be spaced more than kickstarter goals.
I actually thought the dog was the perfect goal. I don’t know why, but at this point I don’t want big drastic, time consuming goals.
I want a dog in the game now
I really think that it is possible…nay, probable, but…I cannot do it. I simply don’t have the…ability. I’m sorry everyone…I’m sorry father but…I just can’t do it. So…I turn to you fine people for…help. Help me please!
Can anyone come up with a good, “OR THE BITCH GETS IT!” line. Please?! I know there is one but I can’t find it!
(For the non-English speakers: a bitch is a female dog, this is why it’s such an insult. I don’t know if other languages have the same.)
I like the new goal although i don´t like dogs.
But i read the first time that alpha access is ´Win only´
So when do you know if it´s possible for Linux users because i increased my pledge for beeing a member of the ´highcourt of alpha testers´.
…waiting for good news, Alex
Respectfully, don’t dismiss the potential importance of a dog in-game. Surviving (eating, drinking, etc) may or may not be an easy task and an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands (paws) may prove to be pretty cool.
I absolutely think the same. Dogs will be a great feature!!! I’m very happy!
It seems like it would be a distraction and an inconvenience. I can’t see it working, so I’d rather the money be spent on more quality or quantity in things more fundemental to the game. That or pet hawks.
I like to have a dog as companie , i prefer them to human companions
Now i don t see why this should be the 1 million strech goal i also awaited something more "whoau"
But dogs are cool so it s ok
Well, they explained their reasoning in the email update.
It can’t be anything too time consuming or expensive, because they are on a budget. I don’t think it’s a case of them trying to think of what to spend the ‘extra’ money on, just what to offer next as a little present to us for getting them to that target.
I’m confident that all the money will be stretched as far as it can to make the game better in as many different ways they can think of. Thinking of more impressive stretch goals is probably something they could do without!
Yay ! Dogs ! )
What breeds will be available? Prague Ratter, Dachshund, Shepherd, wolfdog, bloodhound? What other breeds do you recognize and know that were present during 15th century and before?
Add talbots, salukis, huskies, elkhounds, pariah dogs, molossers and various mastiffs to the list.
I hope they will not “force” the dog. I really dont want to load last save every time the dog dies…
I like the goal if it’s implemented in a meaningful way.
A dog companion in an RPG should mean that the dog offers some new ways of gameplay and quest solving. For example you could use your dog to intimidate people in town where it is forbidden to draw a weapon. Or he could help you with hunting animals to get food. I don’t think that the dogs necessarily should be used in battle since that could cause some problems with gameplay design and player agency. But I believe in Warhorse and their vision that they will find a meaningful and fitting way to implement a dog as a possible companion.
Doesn’t excite me all that much, but a lot of other people seem keen - and I do understand Warhorse’s point about the tight budget.
I like dogs, and having a medieval timey wardog/companion is neat and I really like this idea, but I don’t really think its worth being the 1million SG
