Build our own house?

Continued from my last reply:

The shop makes everything even more complicated. I can see that Warhorse tries to imitate StarCitizen’s sales model. However, these two are completely different games. They also have different background. StarCitizen is a game that created by public funding. It doesn’t have investors or publishers. Every backer of StarCitizen is the investor. As a result, StarCitizen has to pay a lot of attention on public opinions.

The KCD is another story. They have a private investor. The kickstarter page is just a poll to see how many people will interest their game. So, the sale model of StarCitizen doesn’t fit KCD very well. The Warhorse shouldn’t open this shop. People are not expecting this shop originally. It changed the theory of Warhorse. Because of this shop, they probably will be threatened by backers. I don’t want to see this situation happen.

However, if they continue imitating StarCitizen, this game will be different. The Warhorse probably will be affected by public opinions, and change their theories. So, for those people who like the original game they promoted on Kickstarter, You guys better be prepared to face some big changes.

Again, I’m not judging their behaviors. I just simply list the possibilities of things that will happen in the future.
BTW, if they figure out a better way to run the shop, I will applaud. StarCitizen is a special case, and it can’t be imitated.
I hope the Warhorse can keep their style.

What am I missing here? I was under the impression that the SHOP was just a place for people to continue pledging. And that they’d add more stretch goals for us to work toward.

Tbh, I loved Skyrim’s Hearthfire as well. But I do not want that for this game, if it wasn’t already planned.

I don’t want them making any last second additions or major changes. We have been given a timeline, and as much of a promise as any respectable game in development can give. I (as a gamer) have expectations, and I would like them to be kept.

I will not trade my 6 month Alpha deadline, or my late 2015 release for a housing/macroeconomics feature.

Although, if the modders get hold of it, I’m 100% on board

I’m just guessing the impact that the shop will bring to us and this game. StarCitizen has already it. They make new stretch goals based on backers opinions.

In this forum, a lot of people don’t want Warhorse make many changes. So, the shop probably doesn’t fit KCD. If the Warhorse decide to copy StarCitizen’s sale model, this game will be changed for sure. Might be good, might be bad.

They’ve already mentioned adding additional stretch goals… and although I’m with a lot of the people whereas I don’t want to see them make any changes… I don’t mind if they want to make additions based on stretch goals.

So far what I’ve seen is concern that more features will delay their release dates and use up their budget… but if those features come with realistic monetary goals…I don’t see this happening.

I am all for changes the devs think are necessary for the game as long as it does not take away from what brought us all here in the first place. Staying true to a goal and taking a few ideas from a forum is all good but I have seen a lot of games ruined by taking to many ideas from people who post in a forum.

@Devs Consider good ideas but stay true to your vision.

Yes. I want to see reasonable stretch goals.

StarCitizen’s stretch goals are like one million dollars for a new star system. It’s crazy, but good for it.

I don’t want to see Warhorse doing the same thing. If they set their stretch goals like ten thousands for a new city. I will hate them.

I highly doubt increasing the map size and adding in new locations are part of the stretch goal deal. I mean new star systems works for SC because its an MMO and its updated dynamically…but since KCD is on a set map…I doubt we’ll be seeing any added locations.

I assume all the stretch goals will be related to improving the quality of development (like music, mo-cap, or voices) OR additional gameplay mechanics (new features, quest lines, weapon varieties, etc.).

Yes, I think so. If their stretch goals are focusing on quality improvement, then it’s fine. But who knows what they really gonna do. Money is a mysterious thing, especially when they are cooperating with StarCitzen dev team. So far, they have already shared some codes. Both games are using cryengine, so it is possible to expend maps.

Overall, I have good faith on Warhorse. I hope we can have some reasonable goals.

I think Dan actually said something about adding more weapon types in the live stream.

if that was the case the game would just be a blacksmith game… and we already know there is going to be big battles and your going to be relatively active in terms of sword fighting which i assume isn’t normal for that period.
Also if i get a knighthood and still have to live in a blacksmith’s house i’ll be rather pissed.

Cooperation is more then code from the game, think of it as tools to keep productivity up, a easy program for level designing, maybe some particle effects sharing, I highly doubt SC and KC will exchange models or battle strategy

Sorry gals and guys, I have to sleep at some point too, ya know.

Unfortunately, people can’t be arsed to do so it seems.

They keep stretch goals real, things which are feasible, so they don’t have to neglect core mechanics of the game in favor of stupid suggestions made by people who can’t fathom how much work it is to implement such crap.

Simply said: Don’t overstretch the fucking stretch goal! :exclamation:

People don’t know shit but keep demanding shit until a game turns to shit.
I didn’t pledge for shit! :exclamation:

Here’s how stretch goals (should) work:

Good example:

Horses are there already with hand-made animations (video update #3) -> Stretch goal: mocap for horses -> Goal reached = vastly improvement of a core feature

Bad example:

Nothing’s there (not even basic stuff implemented yet) -> Stretch goal: Medieval Sims (build castles, beget multiple children and see them grow up, play farmer, become king, recruit armies etc. [btw: these are all things demanded by various people and I have to add, reading it in that order makes it obvious how silly it is]) -> schedules can’t be kept, core features suffer from this, game will be a half-assed unrealistic The Sims RPG

One could say: nice idea and such but still just fantasy, not feasible for a small dev team that likes to have their stuff fleshed out and not some half-baked shit

What bullshit is this?
No, they don’t have to surrender, they’re not your slaves!

They propose their ideas in the form of “stretch goals” based on what’s already there or could be there because they know best what’s good for the game and what’s doable and what’s not! You on the other hand have no experience in developing an AAA game. So let them just do their job!

Yeah, that’s within the realm of the feasible and I think it would be nice to be able to have a unique designed interior according to my liking.

Type AT (@) + warhorse then they will read it definitely.

Maybe because of your promotion you move into another house but you don’t own it and you can’t sell it?

And nothing points to the fact that you will own whole villages (which I read somewhere on the forum recently).

Seriously? hahah. There is a lot of fun reading this reply. However, we as the backers have the same goals, and common interests. Let’s hope this game can be better in every ways. The forum is the place to let every one speak out their ideas. We can’t stop talking simply because the dev teams had already said no.

Beside all, building a house, is a great immersive feature and puts you really more into the game…
I can start my story driven game also from my own house…what´s the problem?
I personally would raise my pledge for such an elementary feature…

I would most certainly be cool to design your own home/castle, but I do enough of that in Mindcraft so buying and selling work well enough for me.

Ahem… I thought this forum was to give the devs ideas to do a better game according to their guidelines… But apparently it’s really a place to throw some random ideas, even when the devs dismissed them from the very beggining, for the sake of consume bandwith… Good to know!

that’s like saying someone who wants dragons in this game should keep talking.

and tolerating that, you should also learn to tolerate people telling you your idea sucks and will ruin the game.

they could add a “The sims” in there to build your house, right???

and that way people that aren’t interested in revenge can just rebuild their blacksmith and socialise with the NPC’s maybe get some kids…

More sanboxlike…more story based…don’t know.
They should create what they have in mind. And then I want to play it.
A user above said, if they would imply all the wishes of gamers it would just become a boring average game.

I honestly think players have so high expectations because since skyrim everything was boring, that they will have no joy playing the final game. Because it’s not what they expected. Let Warhorse do their job
I hope the devs will not listen to the people on that forum
