Jan Hus was believed to be in possession of an ancient katana known as “iudicium divinum” or Divine Judgement. He used this sword to inspire the local populace and bring them over to his cause, performing miracles with the blade.

One such miracle is recorded in the Hussite traditions as Jan having wielded the sword to cut through an old Catholic manuscript. Yet only the doctrinal sections of theology that he questioned and sought reform in were actually stricken and removed from the manuscript.

After Jans death, this manuscript then became known as the Book of Hus, and was taken into every battle the Hussites fought against the crusaders that came against them. This book is reflected in the shield design that is synonymous with the Hussites of the period.

Like I said, I don’t care which sword is better. I’m here because the game is set in the Dark Ages and is historically accurate and I’ve been waiting for something like this since I was 3. If there’s a bunch of samurais roaming around with katanas that one-shot you, as long as it’s historically accurate I wouldn’t care. But NOBODY is stopping me from walking around in full plate, a kite shield and a bastard sword, one-shot katana-weilding Japs or otherwise.

I never said that i wanted Samurai in the game. That would unbalance the game. Katanas were in the location of the game in the time period.

Un likely. The katana is able to cut through plate armor and the samuria would be so much faster in his armor. The samuria armor was also slightly better at protecting against swords.

Good article, it’s an opinion piece but backed with considerable expertise in the field, worth a read through if you have the time: http://www.thearma.org/essays/knightvs.htm#.VTchAvmUdvw

The crux of it really is that whilst it’s an interesting notion to ponder who would be victorious, contextually the argument is rather invalid.

He sounds quite pro knight though. And I’m okay with that

Katana and recurve bow as playable weapons

There’s your topic. Go. It already been posted and the katana is not going to appear from what I read.

And those are just some of those on that topic. It’s a stupid argument for a katana in medieval Europe. It’s like saying let’s have a medieval Japan game with longswords, plate armor and crossbows.

Dude, you’re being trolled bad. Pretty sure @SirWarriant is just messing with you, I don’t think anybody would honestly be expecting a katana to be available within the canon version of the game.

At the end of the day, modders WILL make this happen. It’s inevitable

I agree completely. I want a believable, realistic Bohemia.

Bro i was just messing with him.

I know, but I found it funny as well so i went along with it. This post has gone to hell in all honesty… :joy:

Yea let’s get this thread back on track shall we…

Stealth mechanic, sword fighting and horse riding will all be allegedly making an appearance in the E3 alpha release. :sunglasses:

Really enjoyed seeing a snippet of the available customisation options for your horse in the latest vid update, which certainly gives us further insight into how that will play out on a grander scale for us as players as well.

Be nice if we could customise the colours of those items as well though, through say purchasing dyes. Rather than buying a particular item and being stuck with the default colouring. Not sure if that’s been spoken about or mentioned…

I think I’d like the archery mechanic to be further fine tuned and refined as well. It still feels a little awkward with the swaying movements. Polishing that in my mind perfectly aligns with the addition of the new stealth mechanics, and would more than likely contribute towards the enjoyment and playability of the new release IMO. #StealthKills

Yeah, I agree for dying clothes. But I think that’s a lesser thing than a major point of the game (i.e. combat, archery, stealth, lockpicking, etc.) As for horse riding, that’d be interesting. It seemed Mount & Blade when I watched the update video.

Agreed, not expecting you to be able to dye clothing items in the next release… was just brainstorming. It’s low on the priority list for sure haha

Although it would be a pleasant surprise if they did.

I saw this today…I wonder does this mean that a sallet will be available or is it only artwork

Well done, necroing a thread.

With the wrong subject.
