I did until i ran out of picks and it wouldn’t even allow me to talk to the miller again
i think the problem is some people might have low visual acuity/spatial iq. you know, these are the same people who can’t measure distance while driving. ultimately i think there might have to be an option to auto pick based on skill level.
based on a mod description, it seems the problem lies in their inability to detect the sweet spot relative to the spinning wheel. they can’t keep track of it once it has started moving. to people who have issues, is this an accurate description of the problem you are experiencing?
I’m not sure where one would get more picks, i never ad an issue finding them. I mainly got mine from bandits. I would imagine he millers would have some. Have you completed the quest for the Miller? I know he won’t talk to you until you do. The quest I’m referring to is the one with the ring btw
I think he would talk to me now, just haven’t gone back to talk to him as I think I did that before the quest. I was only saying I broke all my picks on the practice chest lol
Even though I’ve gotten much better at lock picking compared when I first started and almost level 20 now, still not a fan of how it works in the game. I hoping the tweak their doing to it especially for console players like me works out.
You are not
Holy sh1t pc f@ggots can be really dumb. They play on their EASY pc controls, think they have “SKILLZ LEL” and and try to come and talk down to console players like they know something. Maybe you dolts could actually try to use the console controls and see for yourselves what we are talking about, but nope, you’ll continue to use your easy “mouse and click” and then think you have “skillz” and tell console players to “git gud”, lol you people are pathetic. The worst part is that i am pc player too but holy sh1t do i hate the PC gaming community; most bunch of toxic fuckers you’ll ever meet in your life i swear. Yes mate, its literally impossible, i was doing the monastery quest were i had to steal the writ from the lockbox which was apparently set to “very easy”, lol as if! You should’ve see it mate :'D, i literally bought 20 lockpicks, and 3 saviour schnapps. Nightfall came and i went to work. Lol imagine this, i spent literally an hour trying to open this thing, in that hour i ended up murdering the german knight grinch, and the young noble and his guard cause they walked in on me. Then after that mess, i seriously broke 19 lockpicks, and BARELY MANAGED to open it the thing on the last lockpick. I freken bolted and got the hell out of there and drank a saviour schnapp cause there was no f-ing way i was going to do that again. Yes lol, this system does need rework!
I play the game at my PS4 and as some people said, it was harder ate the beginning, but got manageable with time and practice.
I believe lock picking is how it should be.
I’m going to wait till fixed, its sort game I would play again once I do get to the end but Its annoying with it so broken on console, amount times I find chest and think I wonder what I would of got, ive even tried to skill itup and still impossible 99% on easy locks, I’m only glad I managed it on the witch quest to move story along on that one.
No there isn’t. you cannot get items inside a locked chest nor open a locked door other than lockpicking it.
i hear ya. my left stick wont go all the way around stops about half way and wont move anymore. you mean i have to lockpick for quest to advance, no frigin way.
In regards to the quest at the start, you can beat up kunesh and take his key. That unlocks both door and chest.
The Miller has picks but his tutorial well that’s the impossible part for me. Can’t get past it. Pickpocketing isn’t bad though it is awkward. Can’t wait till they make the lock picking a bit easier cuz I’m so no enjoying it especially since I can’t get past the tutorial.
So, I started to grit my teeth and pick those damn locks (I play on PS4 btw). I found that the more I did it the easier it got. Now I can pick hard-locks with not much fuzz. It took me abit of time, just like the combatsystem, but when I got the hang of it it just got easier and easier as I leveld up lockpicking.
Pickpocketing is another story. It’s awkward as hell trying to go around the wheel, opening a spot, stealing the shit, and then go back to the start. It moves slow and is just… awkward.
I’m playing on PS4 and I struggled with it too, however…
I kept trying and I’ve got my Lock-picking skill up to level 4 or 5. To be honest, it’s now too easy and i unlock every lock first time. i don’t want them to change how it works!
My tips:
1 - put the controller on the floor and grip each thumb-stick with the index finger and thumb. This gives better control and accuracy (and feels like you are holding lock picks)
2 - When you rotate the lock (left-stick), start the rotation by pushing in the direction of the ‘Gold-spot’ first before rotating. This means you roughly rotate both sticks in the same direction at the same time making it easier.
3 - find some “very easy” chests to start with, as I believe this is the recommended type when you have a Lock picking skill level of 0 (or 1)
4 - If you don’t like the position of the “Gold Spot”, cancel lock-picking and start again, the “gold spot” will be in a different location.
Hope this helps…
This. I’m playing on ps4 and in the start i tought it was bullshit but now i have not broken a single lockpick in my second playthrough
Yeah, I actually used my lap lol…
But it’s easy enough to use your thumbs normally once your skill goes up
Please do not change the Lockpicking. I play on PS4 and I struggled a lot in the beginning. But you will get better and better the more you practice, just like in real life. (I do lockpicking as a hobby, ans you can believe me, that I had to practice several months before I could open a easy lock…so in the game it is definitely easier than in real life. )
Don’t hate on something because you do not want to practice.
I hear you, trust me I cursed and wrote here about the lockpicking system myself. But I kept trying and trying and trying. At one point I had 35 attempts and 1 lock picked. Now It’s starting to even out as I level up the skill.
I agree that the challenge is insane at first. I thought it was damn impossible myself. But after picking the first few locks in actually helped. I think I used about 25 lockpicks on the tutorial-lock… So yeah, something is off, no doubt about it, but it can be done. That’s all I’m saying.
I’m the same now, it’s very rare I get a lock I can’t pick apart from the very hard. Just takes a couple of level ups in that skill and boom. Easy.
