Looting corpses

I always hated one thing on Stalker: You kill a guy wigh M5 suit by headshot, so no damage to his suit at all. Why can you only take his gun and not his suit?

So what will be the loot like from dead bodies here in Kingdom Come? Can you take everything to leave a naked man there? For example if the color of his coat goes well with my shoes?

And how will the loot be generated? Because I guess even other npcs can go criminal and kill some, or animals, And then there was a man lost 3 days ago, you go and find him and can loot completly fresh apple from him? Or will the game know when he died?

And will dead bodies just disappear after some time (or a savegame!!!), or will they last and rot and smell so you will see other villagers burying them? (I am talking about general savefile indexing changes done in the world)

I would like to be able to completely loot the corpses of my victims. Even if i don’t use everything or take it with me. What if i want to make a point leaving the naked corps in the road, or hanging from a tree maybe leaving a calling card behind. I don’t know if it would change how the NPCs react to you but it could be fun.

Also i haven’t seen a thread about your inventory system. I would assume they have thought of this with the average amount some one can carry on them let alone run or fight holding things. I would think you would need a pack mule to fully loot some ones corps.

Most of these questions have already been answered. :scream: :gun:

Ok, here we go:

Maybe the same applies to NPCs as well?
Remember the player is also treated as NPC.

Hope that helps.

Woah, smiley overload haha!! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Good post though, thanks @Cerberus.

This is a great thing to have in the game. Really looking forward to everything is has to offer.

:frowning: I missed this, new info for me, thanks. I want to get all his equipment. :frowning: He does need to be naked, he can still have underwear like in the WoW…

About NPC Function - yes, I read this, but I am asking whether it involves death as well. Probably only WH can answer this question - it’s just a slight expand their idea.
And same with the loot. Backpack of a living person is different thing.
It all goes hand to hand with what happens to a dead body - whether it disappears or not.

But thanks for the answers.

Indeed, I’m not interested in stripping someone down to his drawers but historically the way most soldiers acquired armour was to loot it from the corpses of their vanquished opponents; indeed this was one of the chief reasons people went to war. The average footmen could never afford to spend a small fortune commissioning a master armourer to make a harness of plate armour tailored to his specific measurements. This was solely the providence of the nobility. As a blacksmith then it would make sense that he would chiefly acquire a mismatched set from the spoils of victory.

One thing I wish for the loot is that whatever damage you inflicted on the person you killed carries on to the condition of the loot such as armor and weapons you get from him. For example, if you kill a guy with a blow to the head while he’s wearing a helmet, I would like to see that the damage you dealt to his helmet be reflected in its condition when you loot him. It could be bloodied or cracked, so immediately equipping any sort of loot you get from an enemy will not be really beneficial to you depending on which part you attacked and what you equip. This could be remedied if you take it to a local blacksmith or merchant and pay for repairs(which is something I hope is implemented).

This was in the nudity thread. I would not necessarily assume that not being able to strip a corpse Naked to mean not being able to take armor or clothes off a corpse.

Any clarification from @MadSmejki would be great.

On a separate note, I also really like the idea of specific damage from combat carrying over to looted armor/weapons. Hopefully this is possible. I also wonder if armor and weapon inventory is slotted if you will be able to carry more than one chest plate or pair of gauntlets at a time. From the videos it looks like there are multiple slots for weapons so this would be less of an issue there.

What do you mean carry two chest plates at the same time? As in have another cuirass strapped over the one you already have? That seems a tad… silly. Or perhaps carry spare armour in the saddlebags on your pack-horse?

I meant carry (not wearing) two pieces of armor that would take up the same slot. I do think your horse will be key as a way of expanding the inventory system and what you can carry. Everything we have seen of the inventory system, it looks like it is all dedicated slots, but we have also just been looking at a very early build, so who knows what the end result will actually be.

My question is when youre killed someone and looted them will they
disappear or will it forever be there it was last seen? example like skyrim…
in case they stay wherever they died will it effekt all npc or just some?

In the Video Update#2 Daniel Vávra stated that you can steal clothes from npc/dead npc.

I don’t want to see any gold and jewelry on any fucking animals!!! LOL

I hope that not all armour pieces you loot will fit you

Well from the looks of it you wont be able to go and kill a knight in full Armour at the beginning, and your clothes will get dirty so it would be cool that i would be able to loot everything from an enemy i killed painstakingly aiming not to get his white shirt dirty

Have any of you tried to undress dead body?

I remember seeing the information about stripping corpses naked. It came from really early in development not too long after the game was announced on Kickstarter. For all we know this could have changed, there is already precedent for Warhorse deciding to add things into the game that they said they wouldn’t add. At first Dan said there would be absolutely no third person option, then a couple weeks later he changed his mind and said they were talking about adding third person. I personally hope they do add stuff like this, and act like its not a big deal, that’s the best way to do it. I think the recent rise in SJW activity, although perhaps less related to this specific topic, has made Dan a little more emboldened against censorship, and I support him. I hope he adds as much “adult content” (other than pornographic material) as possible, just to show he can and it’s not a big deal. Everyone is afraid to push the boundaries in video games until someone finally does it and then everyone realizes it’s not a big deal, then it becomes more common. But again, don’t draw attention to it, treat it as if it’s no different than any other game feature. Just look at rust, seeing dicks (and pretty soon, vaginas) is practically as much of the game as anything else, and no one kept that game from being made. There will already be nudity in some fashion, and supposedly there has been full frontal nudity (both male and female I believe) in some of the demonstrations shown to the press. I think the they should try to get away with as much as possible and develop their game without regard to what developers and the ESRB or other rating systems think. If they react too negatively they can always cut out content, but they will never know what they can get away with unless they try. You know what they say, “It’s always easier to ask for forgiveness…”

Please make it either possible to unlock faster loot animation, or after a certain level able to disable it completely… dragon age never did this, while far cry 4 allowed you to not watch it, especially annoying in 1P to watch the cutting of herbs or skinning of animals in 1P view all the time.

They may allow you to skin and loot faster, because even in real life as you get better at things you do them faster, but the 1P animations will probably stay.
