Very clunky block/attack zones?

im wondering if anyone else gets the sense that the zones in which to block and attack are very clunky and hard to acquire? it may be because i come from games like chivalry which have exceptionally well polished combat but i cant ever find the zone in time as the enemy is about to attack. This results in me getting stuck into long chains of getting hit and being able to do NOTHING about it.
does anyone else feel this way?

similar thing was discussed here. There is also @Vik commenting on it. It seems that it should be easier to control the sword in next version. (I think that no major update was released aftewads)

Anyway alpha 0.5 should be out soon. So test the combat then.
