Weapon/Armor degradation?

I started this topic, I can mess with it as I please! MWUHAHAHAHA! Just kidding. Maybe.

Anyway, I know they aren’t going to alter the clothing, this is why I like the team, not willing to sacrifice realism for superficial gain. To please you, I shall pose my new question: Do you think my amazing clothes will eventually degrade to the point that they will be unusable? And I wonder if I will have to wash them, or at least give them to a tailor to fix…

Clothes will get dirty/bloody so in order to make them clean again you probably have to wash them or buy/steal new ones. Maybe Henry can learn how to fix clothes that are disrupted so he doesnt have to go to a tailor.
I also wonder how it is inventorywise cause I’m sure I wont only have one set of clothes and if you have to drink/eat you have to carry all those things and weapons of course and potions/healing plants and on top of that differend kinds of clothes… dont know how that will work

I could imagine that armor breaks or clothes disrupt in such a way that you cant repair them anymore and they become useless and I think it will be good cause you wont be able to play the whole game with one set of clothes but have to find/buy new ones every once in a while

I agree, but what do you mean “Henry”?

its the name of the main character (the one you play)

You have a name… Words… Escape me… You have a god damn name? As if roleplaying wasn’t going to be hard enough with a preset history… Don’t tell me you can’t alter his face?

That may be a topic we should talk about in another thread
I think its not good to have a set name, too
cause I wanna come up with my own creative name in a rpg
and I’m not sure if you can alter the face of your character, but I would be happy if you can do so

Hey no need to get angry at me.

Man you type like your on stimulants.

But I have no idea what kind of clothing you like, give a few pointers like outdoors clothing or something.

Maybe you can find something you like here.

You haven’t pledged for the game yet so I wouldn’t worry to much.

I just looked about… It looks as though there will be no character customization at all… I feel as though my heart left me…

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

its still not too late to change warhorses mind about that we just have to discuss with the community about that
I’ll look if theres a thread already otherwise I’ll open one

Maybe I am mistaken but from what I read so far you are mistaking this game for something it’s not. I could be wrong of course.

Anyways here is some more “cool” armor.

I was referring to your comment about me not pledging yet. What was that supposed to mean?

I think that @Dushin is implying that you are not as invested in the game as the people who already pledged. If that is true or not that is for you to consider.

Keep in mind that many people (including me) already paid money for development of game that has set main character. I actually feel that it may be bit of a refreshment, because I don’t need to make several not directly gameplay decision at the start of the game.

How will my character look - if there is a plethora of options it can take several hours of not playing. It is usually fun and interesting enough so I don’t want to skip it (and I consider the presets often ugly), but it is also boring enough that I welcome the lack of options. Choosing a name can also be a hassle. And I consider the most difficult part of roleplay choosing (or just imagining out) my character background and motivations. Set character can be in a way lot easier.

It means that if you end up not liking this game you have not yet invested money it in or “lost” it.

To you: I don’t see how you can justify removing options, that are very important to many, with it being easy to skip it.

I havent pledged for a while, too cause I just didnt have the money
but am pumped for the game since february so you dont know if he pledges or not.
And I think he already mentioned that he will pledge maybe even as a duke.

So stop arguing about such things its just not fair

And to you: Please don’t assume anything, in case you couldn’t figure it out, I am planning on buying this game, and since this is the case, why wouldn’t I at least get the soldier pack? For act 1 alone, that price seems cheaper than what it is worth, so l please pretend I already have, because I VERY much intend to.

You make me feel old. I thought this when I was a kid.
You may realize later in life that having options is not always good thing (at the very least it is scientifically proven that too many options make your head hurt). The thing is that I can completely accept not having an option from start, but I can’t justify skipping an option if I have it.

I also feel that you fail to see that you aren’t robbed of option, but you are given different set of options. You are given something that may guide you to have much more complicated and three dimensional character than traditional rpg character creation does. Most of characters I see people create in such games are either flat, partly a copy of themselves and in part just plain crazy. There is nothing wrong with this, but the games with set main character often encourage people to think more about the individual decisions later in game (Halo, Mass Effect, Witcher). I also feel that the character creation can sometimes interrupt the game-flow early and during times where the fluidity of game experience is most important. Another good reason for set character is that letting player set a name may lead to the NPCs having difficulty to address the player character. In Czech it is extremely painful as my answer to “what is your name” and the way other people address me is different, when a game attempts this it can be even immersion breaking and poses significant problems to voice acting.

I can get behind the preset name, that’s one thing (think mass effect, i.e, “shepherd”)

However… One thing I can not even begin to comprehend is “having options is not always good thing” I have no idea how to even respond without shouting… Maybe it’s just me, but I tend to be more creative with a blank piece of canvas, than a half finished painting. Too many options? TOO MANY OPTIONS? At least in mass effect you could choose your own history and appearance, and because of the preset name, we had no problems with voice acting.

Something that may guide you? Guide me to what? I can’t work with dry clay…

Game flow? Obviously it would be at the start, how could this interrupt flow that has not began?

It isn’t my fault most people can not create interesting characters on their own, I can’t help but feel punished. Additionally, I assume your character in this will be voiced acted, I’m not sure how to feel about that, since I certainly (I hope you agree here) won’t be able to play a rouge, with the voice of a knight or bard, they simply carry themselves differently in conversation, plus the tone I imagine my character having ina certain situation, will not be able to come across correctly. This of course can be partly fixed by multiple versions of the MC being recorded.

I don’t know why others would want predetermined characters… Why not play the witcher or something? Think about replay-ability… The same character in every way other than class, and decisions… Wonderful.
