I’m fighting the urge to buy the early alpha/beta but I’m starting to feel like giving in. But on another hand I don’t want to ruin that new game experience when it’s finished.

Yes, but this is a bit out of context here. It is ment that we will not be on Steam early access soon. You will be able to buy the game and Beta even after the release of Beta, but not for Steam anymore so soon.
Thanks, so to clarify the pledge system IS changing tomorrow but the ability to gain early access (non-Steam) will remain available?

Not for the cheapest one, but it will be without the extras. So, if you pledge today, you will get more for your money, if you pledge later, it will be less.
