So I know that when it comes out, there will be a steam code for the game replacing the beta. However, I want to know if I can pre download it before release. Also, the backer rewards thing says I have to connect my steam account. Is that something I can do right now or something you can only do on release day? Or, is it something you do when you pre purchase it on the website?

Link Account to Steam Pre-ordered back in 2016, how to link it to steam profile?
