there was another user that reported the same thing
20GB preload on Xbox
It isnt because of that. Preload never includes main binary
Doesn’t matter, if the preload files are there people will have them ready and all they’ll need is simply the missing component
and don’t think i’m defending their decision, infact it’s cowardly and goes against the principles of a PC-first game
but they seem to think that piracy affects sales therefore they are not taking any risks (if there were any)
If consoles gets to preload, PC should too.
simple as that.
More than likely people who preorder from steam will get a pre-load of the game. Backers will have to wait to get the steam key after game launch and than download the game. I figure I won’t be able to play the game at all on the 13th and probably won’t even have the key for steam.
some waited for 4 years now, I think 1 Day more or less doesnt really matter quote
Oh, but it does
We want to make preloades possible now, but we can´t guarantee and have to check what we can do about it.
How is pre loading going to help us, when we get our codes at release day?
Confused by all these answers…I purchased my digital pre-order a few days ago on the Microsoft store (for Xbox One), and installed the game the same night. It looks like it’ll be ready to go right on the dot.
That depends on when the keys will be send, where you live and when the game will be released. If you live in europe, get the key in the morning and the game is released like most steam games in the afternoon/evening then you have half the day to preload so that you can actually play at release day.
That is true. I don’t know of any countries in europe with data limits. I gues you can play the game an hour earlier. Skip the game download and go straight to the day one patch.
Interesting. I live in the US, so it might be different for me? It could also be different since I pre-ordered from the Microsoft Store online rather than the Kingdom Come official website.
My biggest concern with not having a Pre-Load for steam is that the servers are going to be overloaded.
KC:D is a top selling game on Steam right now – without some sort of Pre-Load, download rates will DRAG on release day, and I don’t know how big the file is for the final release but I’d prefer not spending all day downloading the game. I have fast internet but when Steam servers are overloaded — downloads can take awhile.
top selling game on steam?
I bought it 3 years back then lol
Nope, here ADSL 6000, max 730 kb/s
Games like Conan took me around 8-9 hours.
With a 100.000 conntection you need maybe one hour.
And my dsl with steam client is sometimes more slower as without it.
But i have no problem with that… i can finish the download days or weeks later!
I live with 200kb/s
I have downloaded 10 years before my current connection with 350 kb/s
So Welcome to the Club
EDIT:
But I have a friend who also preordered it. And if he has downloaded it quickly,
I can use a simple legal method to install it on my steam account, a simple copy & paste procedure with acf modifying. But only for same language versions
me too
now I have upgraded to 1mb/s
so I’d be happy to preload aswell
from what i understand, steam is bad. so the more you do with them, preload, events, etc, they will charge you more. maybe preload is possible for bigger studios, not warhorse at the moment.
If you browse RPGs and click top sellers, KC:D is in the first page, right next to Fallout 4, Skyrim, The Witcher 3 etc etc.
