How Dare You Charge 60 Dollars for a Game in This State

How about an agreement where smart people don’t respond to this kind of silly post? I’m losing my faith in the human race reading what people with the money and free time to play an indie “sim” about someone’s view of the medieval world believe they are entitled to. Purchase > Play > Decide either a) Refund via store or b) Check if there are solutions to your “bugs.”

Try tell us where you got problems m8. There are many people here trying to help you.

You are playing a videogame anyway. Every time is wasted here.
When game says “Game saved.” It was all the time saved for me, strange bug wonder how many others have it:V
If you get killed running a hill, you should load and watch out next time lul. You was just killed because you failed your role (why do you think they are ambushing you middle of nowhere… run through forest next time).

Then there is the cage thing, this bug is huge, have no idea why they didn’t fix it immediately when they found it, so yes, ask for a refund, but because of this, not anything else you failed because you can’t understand how to play the game. Tho ask for a refund because they didn’t give you the manual, not because you failed in the game.
Progress isn’t just to be on another quest, it’s when you learn more and won’t do same mistakes as before, at least especially in this one game. Your bad invested 60$, noone said you will have smooth run without deaths (but because of bugs where your game will crash or you will need to quit because of a bug - yes thats the main reason for refund) so stop mentioning rest of this nonsense. Thats why you are more likely just beggin for atention in outrage. Raging like I was, with the 3 crashes within 73 hours.

If you can’t describe what you’re running into, how is anyone to try to help figure it out?

Asharak. Lol i was also raging alot through the first days xD

I did, an no one can help.
(Game breaking bug (ps4))

Games broken.

Best way to fix it is start a completely new thread detailing how much you hate the game and demanding a refund so it can ultimately never be seen by the appropriate authority nor be addressed.

Everyone else seems to be doing it on these forums so I guess it must be working for them…right?

I’ve run into a few bugs in this game with it crashing at the most annoying places and all… I rarely throw my controller away, but I’ve done that a few times with this game.
I saw someone mention Skyrim and its bugs (at least on console), and I agree. Skyrim on PS3 with the add-ons was horrible. And that was a game that had been around for a few years allready.

Being stuck in terrain is a sandbox-problem. It happens to me all the time (gotta stop the spelunking), so I wouldn’t call that a bug per se. Making a huge game “stuck-free” would be a more or less impossible task.
That being said I don’t think it’s more bugs in this game than in other games of this size. I mean, look at Mass Effect Andromeda. Cheesus Christ on a pogo-stick!

Yeah, I was f.e. used to quicksaves from BaldursGate I played prev. month, qs/loading before everything and then I start playing this and… 10min, 30min 5min no matter, from save, I died I was mad… like… ffs these bad habits of QS.
Yesterday I was exploring forest and ran into a camp of heavily-geared bandits I even saw from a distance, 20min from save, I died… but damn what did I think doing that… tho I didn’t rage I was just angry I did that. Must say this game “feature” is strange :>

Got the same problem, I love the game itself but to charge that amount of money for something pre-alpha like, like KCD is just ripping of your dearest customers…

  • complete useless AI (you can clean every city wearing socks and sword…)
  • useless money (im maybe at 10% of storyline after 50 hrs of doing side quests and already got like the best gear and money isnt an issue)
  • movement bugs at enemies/horse
  • shutdowns (PS4 Pro)
  • ugly popups after loading
  • well made but horribly mixed sound/speaking
  • speaking way to quiet
  • unfair save system (the system itself is good and fits the roleplay, but it doesnt work like it should)

And many many more… but for me the biggest issue is that rock-dumb AI. Im really dissapointed they released it like this, for this high price. I feel like i got completely fooled by them. I mean those guys did months of testing nobody can say they haven’t encountered these various bugs in their play throughs, so it’s even worse for them to see its unready progress and still release it… Although I love the game I would NEVER buy anything from these guys again, since they f****d me up with their first work…

That’s not how you create a fanbase. That’s not how to treat customers. You can’t just throw shit at your fans and hope they ignore all the bugs and just wait months to get updates so it maybe becomes playable one time… I would like to continue my 50hr save, but it’s absolutely no challange at the point. You can do all main story missions just by slashing everyone with 1-2 sword hits wearing nothing more that your underwear.

Overall, this game for me shows what greedy developers do to get money. And I thought Gothic 3 was buggy back than :man_shrugging:t3::laughing:

It’s no opinion, it’s a fact that’s it’s way to buggy to sell it at this price… can’t argue with that I mean cmon

Ofc. If you read my post a little longer up you see i say the same thing  i agree to many of your statements, but anyhow i love the game and play it anyhow.

Just so we know what kind of logic we are dealing with here:

Spends $60
Plays 50 hours
Average entertainment cost $1.20 per hour
Average Hollywood Movie cost: $7 per hour

If you played 50 hours and had no fun, you are a masochist. If you had fun and are complaining about $1.20 an hour, you may wish to reconsider that complaining.

I dont wnat to add to all the flaming. However I want to add myself to the group of people who recognize that Warhorse Studios created a game that is

  1. really unique, full of fresh ideas and revolutionary concepts.
  2. Hard in a challanging and motivating way
  3. Creating an unrivaled level of immersion
  4. In beta-State. Genreal “polishing” (texture glitches, pathfinding, wrong subtitles, etc) is far beyond industry standards for full-price products but even more severe: basic system mechanics are broken (save-system, story-bugs)
  5. Ambitioned. Probably to ambitiond for a Studio that small and that young.

That said, I am thankfull that Warhorse Studios believed in the idea of this game and I really adore it. However I think I will cease playing for now and wait until patch 1.3 is out.

In other words, they released a Minimal Viable Product (MVP), taking the bet that “viable” was on the right side of coin for a critical mass of customers.

Presumably it was either that or go bust or - heavens forbid - secure more funding via another kickstarter by releasing a MOBA for the combat. Personally I would have done that plus an ICO and spent another year on the actual RPG element.

The point is, that people aren’t giving a chance to WH fix their game(Not like they’re stopping them from doing that, but not good for moral). Everyone do know, that the game has its problems and issues at this moment, but this game at the same time is the best thing i’ve ever played in my not a long life(After Gothic(1 /2 + the night of raven, TES: Morrowind, Arx Fatalis and etc. ). Someone experiencing all of them at once(Bugs, glitches and etc), someone is like me - one bug at 170 hours. I guess, we can trust to Dan, Viktor and Martin with WH developers, cus even if they were needed to cut something, cus it wasn’t working well - they told about it. If to look at the final release almost everything came to the point and even more. Even if to look at patch-notes that were shown by Dan they’re listening to us and what we’re saying around, so if we can tell them about the problems and help, why not?

I can also understand people that bought the game for 60$(Yeah, those money might be important for some people, but i won’t talk about why they’re buying games then), but mature people won’t come on forums and spent 5 hours per day hating for 200 posts in thread and wasting their time. You can spent this time doing important things like: education, spending the time with your family and etc. So, for me, people, who are spending their time by trying to tell us, that DEVs are demons and the game the worst thing ever produced on the market - aren’t mature.

If many people, who do remember War of the Roses(The game concept was good and fresh back then in 2012). Many people backed the game(I’m one of them) and it has so many issues, that i can still remember, but DEVs are just forgot about the game and after 3 years just stopped supporting it. What i wanted to say: WH listening to their community and searching for hints there in threads and comments to make the game and experience better. The situation with WotR was opposite - DEVs were under the water and weren’t listening to people, that made the great game die.

So, i wrote many things, but my point, i guess, was understood, i hope on that.

P.S Why the hell i wrote this? I should have made tea and watched memes…

What happened was they got locked into a release date they couldn’t change, and by the time the game went gold there were still numerous issues they had to work on. The fact there was a patch when the game released is proof enough of that, and that they’re still in the process of improving more things shows they’re committed to seeing it through.

Unfortunately that’s the place a lot of games are in these days. Look at No Man’s Sky. There was a LOT wrong with that upon release. It did not live up to the hype it got at all, but the people responsible for it have worked on making improvements and it’s apparently now in a pretty good state. That may not matter to those who were initially turned off.

Look at The Division. It had some good things going for it at first, but there was a lot wrong with it. Over time, it’s also improved.

Look at Destiny 2. By the time Destiny 1 finished, the game was in a pretty good state. Numerous improvements were made to the way things worked as far as loot went, but Destiny 2 threw a lot of that out for a more dumbed down, simplified game that even now has a lot of people upset. Bungie says they’re working on things, but their communication has been poor at best and much of what they’ve got in the works will only bring Destiny 2 closer to what Destiny 1 wound up being. Numerous people have sworn off pre-ordering from Bungie again or buying season passes only to get lackluster DLC from it.

The point is this is the general state of the video game industry now: games that aren’t fully polished upon release. Like it or not, that’s where it is. Content is held back for DLC. Games release with bugs and glitches. Games release needing day one patches because things are still being worked on after the games are finalized for their street dates. If this is enough of a bother for someone, either wait to buy a game until it’s had its improvements, don’t buy the game at all, or get it and simply be patient.

I’ve been fortunate not to have had to deal with anything serious in my playthrough so far, and I’m loving the whole setting, how beautiful it looks overall, and the wide variety of things it looks like I’m able to do. Henry is actually learning to read, improving with a sword, with archery, with lockpicking, etc. I can see true growth and progress in what he’s able to do, rather than just picking up a game and feeling god-like from the start. This will probably give me dozens of hours to fully immerse myself into the world they’ve created, and while I’m sorry some people are stuck at the moment, there is a lot of potential for this to be one of the great games out there. It just needs some more work, yes.

If you don’t have the patience for that right now or you’re upset that things aren’t working for your version, you have a decision to make based on how much you trust Warhorse to come through. As long as the project has been around, as much passion as they’ve shown for it, there is nothing out there to suggest to me they don’t care about getting the game to the point of being the best it can be. If people are just going to come in here attacking them and acting like they don’t give a damn, find another point to try to make. If they’re listening to feedback, you can help by being specific about the problems you’re running into and describe them in as much detail as possible instead of just running to the forums to rant about them ripping you off.
