Game breaking bug (ps4)

Very start of the game, cant progress passed the sword fighting training.
if i go near him before completing the other taskss(pitcher of ale,charcoal,kunash) he attacks me without provocation, and i cannot surrender.
if i complete the other tasks first i cannot interact with the sword trainer at all.
here is what happens when i go straight to the sword trainer before doing anything else.

i have tried everything, from starting several new games, saving and reloading in different areas and finally reinstalling, nothing helps.
I am happy to provide save game files etc if that will help.
I would be more than happy to put up with graphical glitches and the like, but come on WH this is pretty shocking, i literally cannot play the game due to a bug, this needs patched ASAP!

  1. its not cool to simply Post links leading somewhere in the Internet without explanation. Not cool
  2. But even Looking at your links does Not yield any results, as they are Not working. Linked to Something in your Account i suppose. Please describe your Problem in words, give us system Specs and so on.
  3. could it be you Just missed your objective, that you’re supposed to do at the very Moment you are talking about (whenever that is an whoever your “sword Trainer” is)

OK missed the ps4 Thing. Haven’t Heard about this Bug though. You say you did all objective? Having coal, beer, the Axe and the crossguard? Still you can’t Progress without swordfighting? What Happens when you try swordfighting between some of the objective? Did you try waiting/sleeping?

i tried the training between getting the coal, and getting the cross guard, but i cant interact with him.
you cant sleep/wait during the start, that was the first thing i tried.
you dont have the option to give your father the items because i havent completed the sword training.

You also did the Part with kunesh? Didn’t know you need to swordfight to get through the prologue
In the First Video, is He attacking you on Sight?
Tried Triggering the Quest with the German?

yea my very first new game i threw dung at the guys house, meet the boys at kunash house, and used them to gank kunash for his trunk key. trainer wont interact.
tried fighting kunash myself and not throwing dung, same result.
the sword trainer ONLY attacks me on sight when i head straight to him before completing any other tasks.

Actually scratch that, the PS4 downloads the new version of the game if it’s digital, which mine is.

Anyone experienced this and has a work around?
Would love to play this game I backed a few years ago.

I’ve just experienced this on new playtrough.
Didn’t happen when i started previous one but that was with version 1.1

I’ve tried almost all possible scenarios.
If you bump onto him before doing anything in prologue, he attacks on site and you can’t defend.
If you come after doing at least one prologue task, regardless of the outcome, he won’t attack but you can’t speak to him.

So effectively progress is stopped and game can not continue.

I think i figured it out.
This bug happens only in certain circumstances depending how you play. I like to take my time with everything which obviosly KCD don’t like :slight_smile:

So, at the begining, when you talk with monther, just eat from the pot and IMMEDIATELY go to father. DO NOT take anything from the chest and DO NOT STEAL from the storage, don’t even take food from the table but i think the crucial part is -don’t steal anything-

Immediately go to father and talk with him… you can pick flowers and look around later :slight_smile:

After the convo with father, go straight to sword lesson guy and then you can talk with him. Do the damn lessons and proceed with prologue… That worked out quite nice for me, but still, i think theres a problem with stealing items you are not supposed to steal early in the game, or at least before you meet that guy.

Thanks for the reply.
All the new games I have started I haven’t ever stolen anything, or taken food from the table.
The videos I showed, I go immediately to the trainer after speaking with father and he attacks me.
Interesting that you managed to find a way around it.
However, I’ll try to go pick some flowers or something, willing to try anything at this point.

I’m in the exact same boat on ps4, been stuck with this game breaking bug for nearly a week now!! I’ve tried everything, redownloading, choosing different dialogue options with mother, different order of task, not taking items, not doing the mission with my friends/ then trying it with them, letting me get my arse kicked then getting patched up by mother, i just can’t progress, its either he kills me on site or doesn’t want to talk. It’s rediculous, i put up with annoying bugs all thriugh the first play through because i enjoyed the game. Now this one, this one is just ridic, I can’t even play the game because I thought maybe deleting my first completed playthrough might fix it… it doesn’t, now I’ve got two broken playthroughs.

If enough people report it, the better chance it has of being fixed.

I had the exact same issue. The one thing that made a difference for me was starting again, after deleting everything in the second playthrough slot, but this time I didn’t touch anything before leaving the house – and I only selected Agility options for my first two stat increases when mother asked me the associated questions. No, it doesn’t make any sense. Still, it worked. Hopefully this will work for some of the other players having the same issue.
