Proposed Template for bug reports

This was posted by Hartsblade in another thread. Until Warhorse gets the bug reporting tool up and running… I basically propose this be used as a template for bug reports. There is almost certainly too much info in here (case type, HOTAS config etc), but honestly? better too much than too little. Listing inputs is a good idea… maybe that TrackIR is causing a problem? Who knows?

All credit goes to Hartsblade for this, I just wanted to propose it as a template we use to file bug reports on the forum until the bug tool is live.

Thanks, lol, I didn’t even notice the format drop…

Once I had a problem with a different game, and the support required some information on DX as well, via some kind of a DXdiag.txt, I can’t remember properly how to get that file - but I guess this (along with other diagnostic files) might be important here as well, no? I mean, I am no professional, but I imagine it might be more important than the PC case… =]

You can of course edit the template to fit your style or just us dxdiag.exe as posted in the the Dev Sticky:

Official bug reporting guideline

  1. Attach the log of your hardware configuration. Run dxdiag.exe in Windows/System32 folder. Clicking on “Save all information” will create your HW log in a txt file.

Which looks like this (there is more to the file, but it is too large to post and would have to be attached to the post):

I guess this goes into the too much info section  But the template is a great idea, but maybe @warhorse could post some info what they actually need, that would be awesome to prevent “almost helpful” info. Also, is or will there be an FTP for easy upload of evidence? Maybe not public to prevent spam, but did you already consider this?

Edit: I know there’s the guideline but it seems to be pretty basic and only helpful if it’s reproducible on dev side.

@voodoochild saw a post of mine and asked if he could post it as a template, but the format got lost in the cut and paste so I reposted it with the code.

I know it has more system info then is needed, but if you want to use it be my guest, and feel free to edit out what you don’'t want/like.
