Amazon lumberyard engine is modified Cryengine, with a bigger emphasis towards online gaming, i don’t think it affects KCD much.
(My anwer is just speculative and I don´t know the WH internal)
They changed because Lumberyard(Amazon) has better netcode and cloud computing/server. Star citizen need this because it is of course a (massive) Multiplayer Online game.
KCD is singleplayer; they don´t need this. I don´t know how much WH must pay for licensing the Cryengine.(Lumberyard would be for “free”). Maybe this could be a reason to change…
I don´t know which version KCD uses exactlly (something like Version 3.8)at the moment. I only know they don´t want change to Cryengine V because it is to much work. On the otherside Star citizen told they have changed in only 2 days the code…
Maybe it is also easy for WH…?!?
Conclusion:
Changeing or not will not affect to the release date next year.

and it’s 40€ for it anyway if it’s delayed for 7 months more that means we get better game and before it M&B Bannerlord comes out.
That could be just the shop’s placeholder date for “Summer 2017” as they state on their site. Btw the boxart there still says expected release in 2015.

I do like that boxart.
But I heard warhorse is going to make a new boxart? Cant wait to see it, I do hope that one stays actually. Boxarts like that (the Witcher had some variations aswell, with the different characters featured on them) are beautifull and a great way to grab attention.
CryEngine V is pay-what-you-want an you don’t have to pay anything so it’s free too.
TBH I think it will be 100% finished before Q3 2017, but I think that for sake of sales, they wont release it before summer. But IDK anything about game optimization, so no idea how much it takes.
Czech shops all list “Summer 2017” at the moment…

That means nothing, they probably copied it all from each other. We don´t have a release date yet.

Bannerlord will come out first ?
We have no idea when Bannerlord will come out. I assume that Bannerlord will come out later, but I have no idea to be honest.
Considering that Bannerlord could possibly be another year away from release. This doesn’t inspire hope 
But I have faith in Warhorse, at least they communicate with their fans. And thanks to their video updates, we know they are finishing up the game. As in fixing bugs and polishing. Hopefully this doesn’t take an entire year.

and second, I think it would be better for the company not to release during holiday season.
Really excited about it either way, but defiantly sad cant play it before winter.
