Erm… Ok. I apologise for the reading comprehension challenges presented by my post, despite the bucket loads of context provided?
Whether or not it was smart to communicate with sarcasm in writing is irrelevant. Let me explain to you how to tell that this was sarcasm.
Throughout this thread, he has expressed his hate for consoles, and his love for PC. Then someone asks him if he really think that console is the enemy. To ridicule that question, he lists all the negative things about consoles, and states “Yes, that should be applauded”.
If that isn’t sarcasm, then nothing is.
So there’s no such thing as poor shitty sarcasm, just like how there’s no bad jokes right?.
Only PC here, consoles are great for what they are designed to do and thats deliver decent gaming to the masses at a low cost. I say low cost because for those that don’t PC game, a $500 console may seem expensive, but is nothing compared to spending $1k on a top end video card and then putting up to 4 of them in a PC in crossfire or SLI. I will always prefer PC gaming over console.
The fastest single graphics card for gaming is a 780GTX Ti now, which is only $800, which is a whole $800 cheaper if you get 4 of them compared to the Titan. So it is cheaper than you make it out to be.
Hey everyone, I think this thread derailed enough. I don’t think the OP intended the thread to be the battleground it is. But in my opinion there is nothing wrong in talking this everlasting conflict out once more, so I’ve just opened a thread that is more tuned to this purpose. You are all invited.
Ya that statement was true about 4 months ago but you forget that technology improves with new releases daily and the Titan Black is faster and better performing than the 780, maybe not worth the extra money, but my statement, if you were refering to me, was approximate. Check Nvidia’s site for performance numbers http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-titan-black/performance .
Right, forgot about the black, that was just out like two weeks ago. Anyways I was just being a smart ass saying how a $5200 rig would be more appealing to the console crowd than a $6000 rig.
I have a High end PC well at least it was 2 years ago needs a little upgrading but not a lot, I will play this game on both PC and PS4, I did not join this Kickstarter because of the console editions but I am happy to see them added. I know I will purchase this on the PS4 when it comes out.
The PS4 has awesome architecture in it that will simplify the transition from PC to Console and because of this I am sure the PS4 will have a lot of cross over games from the PC now because of it.
Oh and to the idiots that think games are dumbed down just because they are coming out on consoles as well - LOL
IIRC developers like the PS4 in particular because its roots are more PC-like than before and makes it easier for them to work on things for both PCs and consoles.
That’s not to say they’re exactly like PCs, of course, but the whole PC vs. Console debate is a tired one and rarely leads to anything productive. It’s not much different from Microsoft vs. Sony fanboys. Everyone likes what they like and it doesn’t make them better or worse than anybody else - well, as long as they don’t act like idiots when they talk about it.
Ps2 is planetside 2. Sorry should have detailed that better.
Well once again I will be playing this on my ps4. And it’s going to be amazing.
Every game I played on both console and PC I’ve always prefered the console version. I’m definitely only going to play this on PS4 or not at all. Its just a much better experience for me.
I think that the main difference between consoles and PC is the controls of games. I believe that the reason most of the people who complain about console ports is the same I share: PC ports of console versions usually have very poor mouse options (pretty simple sensitivity options and no option to turn acceleration off, etc.). If I’ve always hated console ports, it’s only been due to poor adaptation of controls.
Another thing many games lack is a console (terminal window), which helps a lot in most games, but that’s another issue.
eyeroll PC people talking like its unreasonable for games to be tailored for consoles.
Spend a moment and think about why that happens. Console gamers spend more on games. They make up a waaay bigger audience than core PC gamers.
And why is that? Because consoles offer a remarkably small gap for their price and ages compared to many PC experiences, consoles offer a consistent experience that takes no tinkering with directories or specs, and it is just plain well-packaged. You buy the game, you get the vision the creators intended to give you (and maybe they took some polish off for console versions, but they did it because it is worth it since their vision includes the console audience) often with the larger AAA exclusives being console exclusives by design thanks to Rockstar and the Sony/Microsoft teams, and it will play on your home theater setup with all your friends available on a good interface that you didn’t have to mess around with to get it working and didn’t have to buy new parts for, just to play the next big game each year.
It is pretty obvious that the game isn’t really being dumbed down when you think about where it wanted to go in the first place: to an audience of the creators’ choosing. That audience, by sheer numbers alone, is more likely to be on consoles or including consoles. The market where the performance they get when they send the game out to market is the performance they give to their audience. That reality is why most people play on consoles. They get what they really wanted.
I honestly don’t find PC to be worthwhile unless it comes down to mods for games like the various Bethesda titles or GTA IV. There aren’t many major titles that you hear console gamers begging for from PC exclusivity, but you will see someone begging for a Rockstar port like GTA V or a PC return for Halo on the daily.
Yeah, you don’t have to buy new parts, because the creators limit their games. You only have to upgrade your PC if you want to see everything the game can offer. These next-gen consoles are outdated already. For the price of an xbox one, i think you can buy a pc that will run every game for this and the next year(not on max setting, but maybe still better than a console) and with the money you save by buying games for half the price or even lower on sales, you can upgrade your pc.
I love the pc and don’t like the consoles because the controller, i just can’t use it, it’s too inaccurate. Also way more people use pc-s, you probably have one too. Because it’s better for more things, and with some extra money, it can be a gaming pc.
I don’t think there are that much console exclusives, they only exists because otherwise not much would buy consoles. On pc you can also have all your friends available if you want to.
This is my opinion, maybe I’m wrong. I would like to play with last of us, beyond two souls and valkyrie chronicles, but their makers decided they don’t bother with making available for PC. Console gamers don’t have to beg for PC titles because the devs who make those games are making it availabe for everyone.
I’m one of those one in four or so Americans who uses Apple devices at home now, and while my Mac is indeed graphically solid because I do some intensive work on occasion, I choose not to play the games that have come to Mac on it. I’m not interested in playing BioShock Infinite or The Elder Scrolls Online on my computer. They’re present in the console universe, so that’s where I’d play them.
And you weren’t able to just tell what exactly to buy to get games that look better than consoles for the next couple years because it takes education and assembly. That isn’t very appealing to most consumers. It just isn’t a great design model. If you are really that motivated, go for it. But most people aren’t and it’s quite a reasonable stance, which the developers and publishers see and thus cater to, and often buy into themselves. I can tell you that PS4 and Xbox One are the top picks for consoles, that they will play every game made for them, and that the top AAA games on the market are on one of those two systems. That’s where the market is now for consoles. And it’s easy, breezy, beautiful.
PCs are common, but great, lasting PCs for gaming are not. And the process to make them up to date is not common knowledge because it is complex compared to a completed product like a console.
The keyboard wasn’t designed for gaming. Sure, it’s been useful or had adaptations that many PC gamers like, but many others on PC do try to implement controllers (another task that can take tinkering, googling, and education when you don’t happen upon a game that already supports your controller).
And consoles are not just a fluke started by exclusives. They wouldn’t just die if all games were multi platform. They are still easier and deliver more painless bang for the buck over better performing PCs. It is a great idea and design model that’s lasted decades in people’s home theater spaces because it is fantastic for the majority of consumers. It promises and delivers. PC doesn’t. You are in charge of delivery, whether you like it or not and you are going to pay more for a PC to have better performance than consoles, especially over the lifetime that consoles last for.
Console games often look great, many times with top notch looks that don’t leave anyone playing them wondering about a PC version. There just aren’t that many games that are so far ahead or of the AAA tier that console owners would ditch the design and consistency of consoles for PC. I might add a good PC to my roster, but I see no reason that I’d be better off without a console.
I can’t build a pc, i just buy it from it a computer shop, i don’t have the time or skill the build one myself. But i definitely wouldn’t pay for mac that costs way more than a regular pc. I don’t know what’s complex in a pc, i don’t do anything special, just push the power button, click on steam, and play the game i want, not that hard.
I’ve never had problems with the keyboard and i don’t understand why would anyone use a controller for an fps, a strategy game or even an rpg. It might be good for sports games and race games but i never liked those, so it’s not an option for me.
AAA games might be good on consoles but it just a small fraction of games, and i’m not sure but i think there are way more games for a pc, and I play more non-AAA games.
As a Hungarian I also can’t afford to own several consoles, just to play their exlusive titles and to pay more than 10% of my salary for a console game, because games are pretty expensive here.
Luckily Warhorse will make their available for everyone, and hopefully make a different ui for pcs and think of keyboard and mouse users. If it won’t be like dark souls i will be happy.
Awesome, more PC vs. Console arguments.
Can somebody please close this thread?! It’s only about pointless arguing up to this point and I don’t see any benefit arising from it…
