Why do you close threads in OFF-TOPIC category?

I would like to know why did you, @WH_jirirydl, close this topic?

It was in OFF-TOPIC section, it was thread SPECIFICALLY created for the discussion they had by moderator @YuusouAmazing and they were civil. I didn’t post there, but I read it and it was interesting read. What’s the point of closing threads that are in OFF-TOPIC section? THey are not supposed to be about the game, they are supposed to be about everything besides the game…

I think the last posting was not appropriate
and it was just between 2 or three persons… I dont think the thread closing is a loss
off-topic doesnt mean no rules, its maybe not game related but its still in this forum

If hes talking about the Big Brother category we were some what on topic but it was just 3 people so its fine.

You mean the last post? I actually think it was pretty funny. If there was something inapropriate, then it was a moderator basicaly telling to his customers to leave the forum when in fact they were following the rules and discussing off-topic things in off-topic section in thread specificaly created for them. I don’t see how number of discussing people has any relevance.

It’s a small thing now, but when community will be bigger, such unfounded interventions might cause some serious shitstorms.

I am genuinely unaware of what was inappropriate in my last post. Could you be so kind and elaborate on that thought a little for me, please?

After all, this is a game taking place in the civil war and the main hero will be going around and killing people, so I don’t think there is anything wrong about asking the devs about their real-life views on the issues of effective self-defense, including the right to be armed.

the sad thing is i wasted god knows how long writing a goddamn essay to go and post it and BAMM its closed :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean this part of your posting, I know its not meant as a threat or something but its just not necessary and could cause irritations

How many of WH staff would resort to carry in case WH would become a target of frequent, genuine and believable death threats? What about you personally, @WH_JiriRydl , if the threats were aimed at you directly?

if more people are involved the topic is more representative, with few people talking the thread doesnt seem to interest too many so its easier to decide to close it.

Well, I don’t think it’s fine when a moderator tells you to leave the forum when you are following the rules.

I hope it didn’t sound threatening from my side, I surely didn’t mean it that way.

However in a game that has armed fight as its integral part, I would like to know what its dev’s position would be in case of a real-life issue.

Yea, it might be easier because the possible backlash is small, but it doesn’t make it right nor justifiable.

how many people choose to engage in the conversation is irrelevant . friendly discussions create a friendly community .
and a friendly community is going to have a better player and developer relationship which is going to produce better results .
sticking to strict rules on only talk about the game just creates a dull boring forum where everyone is just another user name rather than another person with a personality and a love for the game .

All about the customer experience at the end of the day

thats not opposing to my post. It surely is easier to close a topic with few people involved

I agree to the things you said but

thats not the case here since we have many off-topic threads

yes but the topics just get closed when they shouldnt do. if its getting hostile like the homosexuality threads then i agree close them but if its civil then leave to die out at there own accord

Because it is bad PR! Most of the people are here on this forum simply because they are interested in this game about the Middle Ages, d’oh!, and not in discussing any sort of contemporary politics, right-wing, left-wing, no-wing, whatever. If you want to discuss politics, guns, drugs, insult people, spam, save/destroy the world, and whatnot, go somewhere else.

It’s their forum, the forum of a private company, so it’s their rules!

Because we want Off topic forum keep open to non-backer mainly and their questions. And because unfortunately almost every discussion about politics, religion, freedom of speech, democracy etc. ends up in personal insults. We definitely prefer forums without these topics, even if they are somehow (usually in very weak manner) related to gaming. I am sorry.
