Authenticity nitpicking

Well, they changed the chickens in the trailer after it was pointed out that the type of plumage was historically incorrect. :grinning: I love the Dev’s standards for historical correctness.

Ok, so the latest trailer featured volleys of fire arrows at night and spinning in combat…

It seems a bit odd that the game would fall back into these medieval clichés after all this time.

fire arrows were used back then

I’m willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt on that point, but the combat spin was a little concerning. I know that it won’t feature in game, but it really felt like it came out of nowhere.

Bet henry was pushed and just spun along with it it smt

While we are nitpicking, allow me to be curious: how would this cultural revolution in “European cities” follow the creation of universities, considering the first such anywhere near where KCD is taking place wasn’t founded before the middle of the 14th century? Or are you referring merely to a subset of European cities in Italy, France and England?

Anyways, well argued, but if we are looking at nits, bigger ones strike my attention, chief among them:

  • in 1403 the vast majority of likely any Middle European populace wasn’t yet 15 years of age. Why not in KCD?

Ha, never would have thought of that. The think about the book spine not showing up until the 1500s is really interesting. Sure, it is nitpicking, but it’s always good to learn something new.

Maybe Warhorse will eventually update it… who knows? So far they’ve been responsive and trying their best.
I’m hooked to try this game  Really hope they manage to support it for a long time.

Thank you for adding this! Perfect to learn more about the topic.

Yeah, I was referring to western european cities, such as Paris, Bologne or Oxford, as one of the key factors leading to this culturan revolution. The fact that it may have reached Bohemia later just proves my very point.

It is true that there are some claims that life expectancy was about 30 years at the time, but it does not mean that the average age was 15. Child mortality was very high, but those who reached adulthood could hope to live to the age of 50-60.
For more:

Agreed, but it’s neither the average life expectancy nor that of adults that represents how many children you should see in the villages but the median, and that was appalingly low. e.g.:

Aside from that, we’re not that long past the Black Death pandemic (though the area in question may have been less affected as much of Poland had been) and thus would fall in a time where the population measurably replenishes their number, actually even increasing childbirth rates.

Oh, I understand. Yeah, you’ve got a point.

As a re-enactor I can find very little fault in the general authenticity I think WH have been pretty spot on, my only issue is with the demonising of Sigismund! Like many I’ve had issues with bugs and controls but putting those aside I think it’s pretty good when we can only find books being stored incorrectly as an accuracy problem, still think it’s great that the OP mentions about books, it’s something I didn’t know either.
