Beta General Questions (with spoilers)

there are so many questions about this game that I have found no answers for as yet, but if a good information page or whatnot is available, I would love to have a link to it! Some of the things I have found no answer for really give me an “untethered” feel in the game, as not knowing so many things is frustrating. Here are a few:

Food–I know food spoils, but what signifies in your inventory when something is spoiled? The various headings on the information page are not explained–some I have figured out, like quantity, but others, like the “heart” I have no idea about. I just found out last night that I had obviously eaten spoiled food, as I got a debuff I had never seen before–skull with crossed fork and knife–but so much information is lacking for me right now, I feel rather frustrated. Please tell me this is all explained somewhere? How do I get rid of the poison debuff-alchemy?–which I have not done yet?

How about fighting skills? Are they leveled up just by fighting? Is there a way to make strength go up and be able to carry more, or wear heavier armor without a penalty?

Horse–old “glue-bucket”–has stats, so can it be leveled up and can it get faster? How, just by riding it a lot? How about carrying items in the horse’s inventory–how in the heck do you move something from your inventory into your “saddlebags” (horse inventory)?

So many questions, so I hope there is a webpage somewhere that explains all this and more. Any help would be much appreciated!

Its health, the heart symbol, goes red and reaches 0. Then it’s spoiled.

Yes, alchemy. Not getting poisoned in the first place also works.

Yes, fighting. Hit things with your sword and your fencing and strength will improve.

I’ve never leveled a horse, but presumably? There will also be multiple types of horses with various stats.

X key. You press it to move. Hold it down to drop. It says that at the bottom of the menu.

I worked all that stuff out just by playing the game.

Thanks for the reply! Hopefully more info will be made available soon,

I followed the quest line and went to talk to the quarry master.
Suddenly out of nowhere 2 npcs entered the quarry site and went after the quarrymaster chasing him much like benny hill then turned toward me to hit me!! lol
I mean sorry wtf are you? bandits, guards etc? some clue please on what happened or is it total crazy AI?

 No, but game can surprise you and it’s hard to understand for first hours. There’s a bandit camp above the rock across the river and on 2nd day afternoon bandits are looking for the Reeky doing their own investigation by their own means. If you want you can track them, it might be interesting. And yes, consider AI broken in one way or another … but at least this is not a bug, it’s feature.

I like very much events such as invasions that you have deal with or it becomes a region problem!
it makes the world lively, and i hope it is extended!

here I am at night in military camp, suddenly the sword master start swinging and flaying at me…common i hope its not because i got lots of money off his men in arena…what a wonky AI???

Unfortunately, I haven’t played the game yet but judging by your video and a couple of other streams I saw you can kill any enemy in the game using a series of 3-4 strikes. If you hit an enemy 1-2 times in a row, he can protect himself but if you start hitting him until you run out of stamina then enemy doesn’t stand a chance.

I hope developers will tweak the AI in order to make combat more challenging.

this, and i’m happy at the current difficulty. fast killing fast looting!

There are few things you can exploit.
1/ Enemies react very slowly to your presence and you can hit them few times before they draw the sword. I think this was fixed in 2nd beta.
2/ Enemies react to pain so you can hit them few times.
3/ Enemies are bad fighters intentionally. Some of them are very easy to kill, but in general soldiers are very good. They can evade your hits, they can hit you just after you successfully block previous attack etc. It almost seems like there are three kinds/levels of AI for fights. Even some Cumans are very tough opponents that can kill you in two hits and fight is difficult cause you can’t see a shit in bushes. Bandits that chase Reeky are among easiest and Cuman in green despite good looking armor as well. He is pretty slow, bad at blocking and despite chain mail armor he reacts to pain. Even then he can kill you from time to time. Bandits are easier perhaps to balance fact they usually fight in group. Most problematic are soldiers and cumans in front of tiny cave close to bandit camp. Hopefully you don’t need to fight them.
By the way short sword is so useless that you need to hit bandits in gambleson like 10-20 times before they die. Seems like beating them with stick would have same effect.

is the axe worth it versus bastard sword? i don’t want to fight with a shield
