I just downloaded Alpha yesterday, all worked fine, and I spent some time exploring. On trying to start the game today, the game crashed to a black screen on the startup page showing keyboard commands. The mouse cursor disappeared and the screen went black before the Main Menu page. Audio (music and birds chirping still worked. Unable to escape or quit so had to manually restart the system. I tried this twice with the same result.
My system is a Gateway Quadcore, 9GB RAM and 1 Terabyte memory, with an ATI Radeon HD 5800 video card.
