Dressed as My Enemy, Didn't Work

So… I decided to kill, or should I say, Choke out a Cuman and take his outfit (All of it). I dressed with his stuff only, weapons and all… I wore nothing that was not of his. Slowly walk into the camp area where 2 other Cumans were sitting and relaxing. The head piece was a Face Covering helmet that i was wearing, so they couldn’t see my face. No sooner than I walked in the area, they got up and immediately pulled their weapons and attacked… ? Really?

I love the game so far, bugs and all, but this should at least be looked at (among-st many other things). I should have had some time to move around and scope the camp before they really suspected anything.

Anyone else have this issue? Any tips? Did I miss something?

Had a partial success. In monk habit, got monk-related comment but busted for trespassing. Hmm

You can only disguise as a Cuman during one of the main storyline quests. It unfortunately doesn’t work outside of that.

I think disguise should definitely be part of the game and be improved but… there are some issues – e.g. if you killed a cuman and took his stuff and went to a camp with 2 other cuman and decided to become the 3rd then they might think – hmm there were only 2 of us and now there is 3 and this guy doesn’t seem to want to talk in our language. That level of gameplay would be neat – at least if it slowed down their reaction times.

Set up a periodic speech check. No response elicits NPC reaction

Just unevenness in awareness AI. Approach a Cuman camp or ambush point on horseback at night with a torch? Practically no response until you can smell the food in their mouths. Fire arrow past sentry Cuman’s head in daylight? Slow response. Sneak in at night with stealth and kill a guy? Everybody wakes up

For one thing, second: it makes no sense to infiltrate a camp with 2-3 bandits/cumans…go in there and kill them :smiley:

Yeah disguise didnt work too well for me either, but mine might’ve been soaked in blood i can’t remember

So, does this limitation (can’t use disguise consistently, stealth kill alerts other NPC) disrupt role play as a thief-assassin? To me, yes

Maybe “ordinary face” perk or whatever its called would help

haven’t tried it, but it would seem silly to have my face completely covered and they notice me, but then get the perk and they still can’t see my face, but then I blend in… smh, that would be very odd.

I want to say that I read somewhere that you “are” suppose to be able to dress like them and blend in to a degree to scope the areas… but I have yet to get it to work. But I could be wrong.
