Patch 1.3: Save and Exit functionality :(

I’m crying? I’m just saying that save and quit was always planned on being in game, so I can understand why people want it in

There is no difference between people “crying” for a change, and you crying to keep it the same. Either way people are still “crying”.

Hate this save system, i died and had to play a quest that I ended again…
I don’t dare to fight anybody because if I die i’m fucked

if it saved after event or finish quest would be help but if you say do hard quest like the witches one with the bad idea lockpikcing and then get ambushed on way back to town and killed like i had then find you have to go though whole thing again its bit disheartning. but since game overall is really good at moment im not as angry as i would be if game was not as good. ive had things happen in skyrim and nearly ever other game i have and my life was not over due to them either.

I got a nice save / quit design proposition for the die hards among us:
Once the game is up and running, Henry can only die once. In that case you get a funeral cutscene, the savefile gets locked and you can sell the game. :facepunch::sunglasses:

WOW, this is simple make it an option in Game settings. Remember this is a GAME not real life you have options to do what you like to suit your play style.

I like the save system as it is but it can be quite inconvenient at times. I’ve noticed a lot of people’s argument is that people will be able to save scum, but that can be done incredibly easy with schnapps regardless.

Also, some people can only play for say 30 minutes at a time or whatever the case may be due to real life responsibilities. So they’ll inevitably be using way more schnapps than people that are able to play more long drawn out periods at a time. In the early game groshems were few and far between for me and I wouldn’t wanna spend every penny I had just to be able to save.

Let the people have their save and exit and be done with.

Example of full blown autism

I can’t believe this topic just keeps coming up. I am even more amazed that people view the use (or abuse) of the save feature in somebody else’s game as an affront to theirs. Seriously? Don’t like it, don’t use it. Simple. Personally, I both love and hate the current system, but a save on exit is a must for me.

Love: Inns mean something. When I travel, I always make it a point to stop at the inn, rent a room and take a quick nap. Then I do my business in town and retire to the inn in the evening. It enhances immersion and makes the game seem more real.

Hate: If I only have 20 to 30 minutes to play before I have to pick up the kids at school, I’m going to play FIFA, PUBG, or something else I can squeeze in.

Love: I’m forced to play the game as if every decision really matters. Decisions like “Fight or Flight”, “Do Good, Do Evil” have real weight and consequence if the alternative is giving up an hour of gameplay for a do-over.

Hate: Quest bugs, crashes, and save corruption have cost me HOURS already and it really pisses me off to be punished for something completely out of my control. Although, Save on Exit doesn’t really help with this directly, at least I know I can replay some of what I already did, save and come back to it later.

As for who does or doesn’t want a Save on Exit feature, you’re missing the point that ALL users benefit from this feature. When you’re short on time, the phone rings to go pick up your kids or your Mom yells at you for the 15th time to put your laundry away, you’ll be glad you had it. Whether you refuse to use it because it threatens your manhood or abuse it because you can’t bear a less than perfect rout of the bandit camp, I don’t care. All I know is that I get to play a game I love more. I’m sorry if that offends you.

I have 40+ hours into the game and found that the issue with saving is in the first 20 or less hours of gameplay and crash bugs that cause the loss of hours of gameplay. It became much easier to save with Saviour Schnapps when you can earn money through rabbit and deer meat harvesting and buy all the Saviour Schnapps you come across. You can also spend HOURS harvesting ingredients to make Saviour Schnapps at Alchemy bench which is a real issue for me. BNR which is an old school acronym (I believe) for Boring and Routine which is very prevalent in this game. I would however add the “save on exit” feature to the game.

some of you guys have the wrong idea this feature is not used like that, this is how an exist save functions.

when you exit the game automatically save
once you load the game save will be deleted

so you still have to live by your choice this feature is only used if you want to exit the game and you don’t have a potion or there are no beds nearby.

That is a brilliant system to be honest. Yesterday I was thinking of stopping playing but I was in the middle of the woods so I had to travel a long distance to get to a player house and then save. The concern of OP is valid but this system would be able to work around the suggested problem by the author.

Honestly, the whole saviour shnapps is a fantasy feature. It is kind of magic poition and as such, it should not be in a historicaly accurate game. Nothing like this ever existed in reality. It is even poorly implemented as it is very difficult to obtain it at the beginning of the game and ridicoulosly easy to obtain in the late game, where difficulty of the game should be higher not easier…

Save&exit on the other hand is completely OK quality of life feature, not discriminating if you are at the start of the game or at late game.

Best solution can be restart in the nearest city and not in the exact place where you exit

but why not the exact position, what would be bad about that?
Moving to the city on the other hand reminds me of Diablo 2 hardcore mode =P “oh no, i’m about to die!” exit and restart from the town instead.
