PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio 4k HDR Update

Hi all.

In the wake of yesterday’s announcement, I was wondering whether devs have taken it or will be taking it and future Xbox Scorpio specs announcement into account. Specifically, is a PS4 Pro / Xbox Scorpio / 4k HDR update planned sometime further down the line?

Out of curiosity, did Warhorse get a Ps4 Pro dev kit?

Thanks a bunch!

We neither have an PS4 Pro, nor an Xbox Scorpio devkit, and right now we don´t have any special plans regarding to these.

They said they will think about it post release.

I’m still hoping for HDR support! Especially for the consoles as it is one of the best visual features for us console users. I know the reason for why HDR isn’t implemented (yet) are due the limitations in the CryEngine version, which is a real bummer considering the premium games released in the past year where most of them includes and look way better with HDR… And just thinking about the visual upgrade of KCD with HDR support makes be believe that there are ways around the CryEngine version limitation. Is HDR support (especially for consoles) a feature you guys are considering, or is it most likely never going to happen? @Urquhart said “But never say never” two years ago, so I’m hoping for a more direct and clearly answer this time

I only speak for myself and I think with HDR support it looks bad. The studio is very busy now. Maybe @DrFusselpulli can tell you more. Still Looking Forward…

Well, Friday evening isn´t the best time for me to ask my coworkers about this question. I will get back to it next week, when I will be in the office again.

@Urquhart, why do you think KCD would look bad with HDR support? At least for me, HDR has been a game-changer regarding visual upgrades in the last years, way above higher resolution (1080p -> 1440-2160p). I even played The Witcher 3 again after the HDR patch as I wanted to dive into an already beautiful game yet again…

@DrFusselpulli, I’m looking forward to hear from you

HDR is quite a gimmick tbh and I have the best tv for it.

@KCD_Killa, I’m not so sure if you have the best TV for HDR if you mean HDR is quite a gimmick… I highly suggest that you calibrate your TV and adjust the settings etc for a better picture. Otherwise, HDR isn’t for everybody. Some people prefer 720p and 60 fps, others want steady 30fps with 1080p etc. The trends is definitely appreciating HDR and it is the TV industry’s #1 selling point.

For me, HDR felles like the leap from HD Ready (720p) to Full HD (1080p). There were allot of people complaining that they didn’t see any huge difference etc, which I find odd, so I’m not surprised that people say the same about HDR. The funniest part of people complaining about HDR are those who try to watch HDR content on SDR capable screens, where all the colors are washed out. 4K (2160p) on the other hand I can reason with as plenty of blind tests show that people have a hard time to difference as long as the viewing distance is “normal” and screen size above 55’’.

We paid about 1000 for it. Its a Samsung UE49KS7000 and my mate says it’s HDR as well as 4K and all that shit. 4K in std and 4k in HDR is the same to me.

Honestly I don’t get the gimmick.
