What is the original that the German Bascinet and Decorated German Bascinet based on? I’ve never seen any like it before.
Battle Merchant…
lol with the exeption of this one (https://www.battlemerchant.com/Helmets/Battle-ready-helmets/Klappvisor-bascinet-2-mm-steel::26335.html) all of their bascinets actually look 90ish percent correct. I just wanna know if the helmet Decorated German Bascinet exists anywhere outside of KCD.
The closest I have found is this https://www.wulflund.com/armour/helmets/gothic-helmets/medieval-visor-helmet-combat-version-2-mm.html/. Czech made, which means there are probably dudes in Czechia wearing them and Warhorse confused it as a historical helm. I’m still hoping to find some sore of historical basis for it, even if it is just a manuscript with fantastical illustrations.
Probably Vikings tv shows bikers manual art book:)
If it really was based on this https://www.wulflund.com/armour/helmets/gothic-helmets/medieval-visor-helmet-combat-version-2-mm.html/ , then yeah, kinda. That company also made props for the show Vikings.
Wulflund made tha backer swords, you know?
Nope, I forgot. I also couldn’t get a source for the helm out of them when I asked.
13=arching bascinet (Merhojed guard encampment; chest NE Neuhof)
nah i believe that’s the bascinet with klappvisor, the arching bascinet is a combination of 10 and 13
Both the arching bascinet and the bascinet with klappvisier are just run of the mill klappvisiers. There are many examples from artifacts and artwork that depict them (although with narrower ocularia and less holes, generally). The only weird one the the “German Bascinet”.
