Suggestion, add more strategy to the game!

I for one think it would be a ton of fun if we we’re able to command our own armies, take cities, ect. I was hoping after seeing support for this idea Warhorse could implement it into the game. Maybe Henry could be promoted to general so the game would stay realistic.

I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this!

That is what Warband is about. Maybe just maybe it could be a mod, but this game is supposed to be different genre and shoehorning additional mechanics that may not fit the overall story in this story driven RPG would be IMHO counterproductive.

Yeah but being just a normal solider? Boring! I want to command a large army and be a great general. Henry could be promoted to general and it could zoom out to a total war style battle. Wouldn’t that be flipping amazing?

If you consider it boring, than you can play different games. I think that not being controlling force on the battlefield and not becoming some important noble, can be portrayed in interesting manner. And it may make the story more relatable to ordinary people, without sacrificing the sense of empowerment that is important for games.

Wow no need to be rude. Maybe i don’t want to play a different game. Maybe i paid 45 U.S dollars for this game and would to like to influence the development with my ideas?

Really? So you were a solider in the 1400s and can relate to Henry?
Plus i doubt you’ve really followed this game as closely as i have. The devs seem pretty keen on implementing large scale strategy from what ive read.

There won’t be an army under your command. It won’t happen, at least not for Henry. Maybe you will get to play another person in Act II or III, but you’re definitely not able to lead an army in Act I as Henry.

Why is that? Seems rather close minded. Henry is going to be the main character. If you fight in a pre determined battle then there’s no incentive to win. Do you get what im trying to say?

If you fight in a historical battle, you want the historical battle to be accurate.

You see what this game is game is about? Historical accuracy. The big event will have the same outcome. It might just change in the Henry’s personal life depending on how he performs.

I know you are a troll, but just one last reply because I am bored and don’t really have nothing better to do right now.

Calling me rude because I pointed out that if you want game mechanics, that aren’t compatible with the game vision and reported story is bit conceited. I am not saying you can’t play the game, but paying just $45 doesn’t entitle you to demand changes to entire game vision and if you are not satisfied with what was said about the game from start than the game may not be enjoyable for you and than nobody forces you to lower yourself to play a game that you don’t enjoy, especially when the games offering experiences similar to that you want do exist.

I sad ordinary people not soldiers in 1400s. And ordinary people are those who at any time and age have only moderate influence on people around them. They sometimes feel helpless, sometimes the are able to do something bigger, but usually are forgotten and not remembered by most of the others.

Plus i doubt you’ve really followed this game as closely as i have. The devs seem pretty keen on implementing large scale strategy from what ive read.

That’s funny. I heard rumors about this game even before it went to kickstarter and was interested in it even than. I read almost every blog they had and seen all of their videos. I also seen some of the presentation in Czech people from Warhorse given and I remember that several times it was specifically mentioned that you will not have any command and if there is some strategy, than it will be only really small scale.

I’m sure they could sacrifice historical accuracy a little here. What would you rather have? A game where you can command troops, that sacrifices historical accuracy slightly or a dull game that simply follows history to the letter.

I;m appalled that every single new idea that is brought up is shot down on this forum and the person labeled as a troll.

MY opinion is a very popular one. I guarantee you there are scores of people on this forum who would like some added strategy.

I labeled you as troll not because you bring “new” ideas (You don’t both topic you posted today were discussed herebefore), but because after my attempt at serious discussion about nature of this game you labeled me as rude, you refuse to listen to other opinions and label different vision than yours as closed minded.

MY opinion is a very popular one. I guarantee you there are scores of people on this forum who would like some added strategy.

Examples? Is your opinion popular because it is yours or do you have some data for it? I don’t agree with your opinion and what I read from the developing team, they don’t share your opinion either. And their opinion is the one that is most important.
