no . competition shooting in the UK is the same as it is in the US starts close ends way over 1000 yards .
talk to me when YOU have hit a living target from more than 1300 metres 
The kid who shot the elk wasn’t doing competition shooting. He was a novice hunter. So that should show you how good of a shot people are who have been hunting their entire lives.
Ive shot a rabbit with a bow from 10 meters

Don’t snipers in the military have spotters who do the long range calculations for them? And by the time he’s 16 ill bet he will be able to land a shot like that without his dad messing with the rifle.

not always alot of the time i guessed the range but that was down to my experience but setting the scope up correctly is where the shot is made and not made

i have landed longer than 1300metres though i have also hit a moving bike at 700 metres to date the proudest shot of my career admittedly i screamed like a girl after pulling it off . (took me a couple of shots )
