Many states would. But if the U.S ever had another revolution or civil war quite a few states would brake off like Texas. They would help topple the government but they probably wouldn’t stay with the Union.

it would be without the support of the military yes . hitler will tell you all about that one , thats something he learned at the munich putsch . for any leader to take power he requires the loyalty of the army . without an army a dictator is just a single man .

Not in a single instance did you get anywhere near to talking about popular militia, like the one that is in Switzerland today or the Hussite militia that rolled through the Czech Crown lands in the 1420s making cannon-fodder and laughing stock of the best European professional armies.
In Afghanistan there is dzillion of various fractions, tribes and families fighting their own small wars and vendettas, only currently using the name of taliban as what you call “common flag”, but once the common enemy - the invading forces - are gone they will be at each other’s teeth.
A modern army would wipe the floor with an uprising unless of course the entire country split .
Comparing wars of hundreds of years ago to today is stupid at best . In them days the army would have to fight you man to man . Now they do not .
And don’t attempt to bring up Afghanistan as the mission in Afghanistan was never to destroy the Taliban out right but only to win the hearts of the people . And stabilise the country .

It took us almost 20 fucking years to defeat the Viet cong in nam. And the only reason we did was because the decided to attack us in one large assault out in the open instead of operating in small groups in the jungle.
The left wing would be utterly destroyed if it came down to civil war. They would probably side with the government how ever most of the military are right wing southerners not to mention all the gun owners and militias are right winged.
A revolution the left would side with the government and still would lose.
after 3 tours of Afghanistan 2 of them being as an officer im fully aware of the objective of the war . and it was NEVER to destroy the taliban .
ISAF are not their to wage an offensive war never have been .
exactly . before you were doing what we are doing in Afghanistan . which annoys me . the mission isnt to kill the enemy , hunt them down where ever they’re . its , this is your area , provide security to A, B and C and win hearts and minds .
that was the basis of my operations in the regular parachute regiment .
a great example of this is on my second tour (my first as an officer ) we were positioned about 8 miles from a very important Taliban strong hold . where they trained , lived and operated from .
we used to be like a training exercise for them , many of the Taliban’s new recruits first contacts was with our patrol base . i cant even begin to describe the amount of times i asked for permission to assault it . and every time my request was refused .
and that was common all through the war . the frustration amongst officers was unreal . hands tied behind our backs constantly . if the gloves had come off i have no doubt the war would of been over years ago . the taliban crushed . completely.
when ISAF did fully attack we crushed everything . AC130 's Apaches , you name it when we brought it in the taliban were wiped the floor with , but the pure bureaucracy in requesting such an operation with such support was unreal and normally refused

im not fully convinced by either side in that topic to be honest . i take both arguments at face value and tr and keep open minded but yes i lean more to the side of it being set up . the CIA have history of supporting such operations .

Well i can’t really see any over motivated Christians in warhorse seeing how from the stats ive seen the Czech Republic is 90% atheist.

Yes, I know about the 90% atheists, thats why I am so confused (well, I don´t know they are 90% but I know czech is pretty atheistic). But that don´t mean there are no christians at all, and maybe some fundamentalistic ones. Maybe they need some to do a game like “Kingdom Come: Deliverance”. I mean christianity was very important in 1403, so you need someone who knows about it if you want to produce this game. And who knows best about christianity? Yes… christians…
