Those punishments like death only apply to Judaism. There is no death penalty in Christianity, confession took it’s place. You tell a priest your sins, and he gives you a penance depending on the severity of it. It’s always been pray few hail Marys or a say a few our fathers in my case.
Ive probably told you this about 6 times by now, you are not killed for sinning in Christianity period.
Every single belief, religion, cult ect has blood on its hands period. The two biggest mass murders in history Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong were atheists. Communism doesn’t have a religion yet its been responsible for over 200 million deaths in the last century.
Awful things happen in this world and they would regardless if religion existed or not.
Catholic monks made many scientific break through s, which they wouldn’t have done without their education through the church. The church also managed to keep some stability in Europe after the fall of the Roman empire, they pretty much took its place. They also saved and recorded many records from the Roman times that would have been lost.
No, fuck that, you don’t get to choose. Christianity is based on Bible and Bible has two testaments.
Yeah, well, that happened hundreds of years after the church basically destroyed all the knowledged that the Greeks and Romans discovered. That happened in era when church took monopoly over education, burning to death anyone who would be too progressive. Saying that this was possible only to church is imbecility.
That’s fucking interesting. Just that christians burned to death thousands of my countrymen for heresy.
Most of the Roman knowledge was actually preserved by the moslims as church considered it heretic.
You’re clearly not getting it. Many of the laws and especially the punishments do NOT carry over. Meaning they do not apply in Christianity.
Are you for real? They did not hardly destroy this knowledge (aside from Alexandria). Just because they didn’t share the knowledge doesn’t mean it was destroyed. To keep the people in the dark was to control them.
And when was this? Those men did not follow the teachings of Jesus or even pick up a bible and read it. They simply used it to control people. Why the hell do you think the bible was locked up and only priests could own one. Those people were killed because they threatened the churches power. The church was an absolute corrupt mess at the time.
Source that please. Muslims burned down the library of Alexandria, and as far as i know never occupied Rome so how did they obtain this knowledge? You seem to have this idea that Christianity is the same as it was 700 years ago. The medieval church was not following true Christianity.
Then we’re both correct. Did you click on any of the links i put? You were flat out wrong saying the evil Christians were burning all Roman knowledge when they were actually preserving it in monasteries in Ireland.
So that pretty much means religion saved the historical knowledge from the Roman and Greek empires.
Also i laughed at this bit from your own link under foundation and orgins.
“The preservation and development of human knowledge was a cherished tradition of the Eastern Christianity.”
You tend to get extremely biased when it comes to Christianity. Like when you said people were hanged in the south for not being Christians
To be fair the EU is the epitome of an Orwellian society. In 1984 the world is split into several quadrants where there is one large central government. There have been talks for a North American union but if that were passed there would be a civil war or revolution here.
Well considering that EU is 90% economic and 10% political union and taking into account that US is 100% political union, does it mean that US is the perfect Orwellian society?
Completely different. The U.S makes decisions for its self, Not Mexico or Canada. In addition to that the federal government doesn’t actually set many laws. States make their own laws , which are voted on by the people living in that state. Someone from New York won’t for instance make weed legal in Florida. It’s rare for the feds to pass big national laws.
If you wanted to control the world, why not divide each continent into unions so you can pass one law that applies to all of them. It’s a slippery slope in my opinion.
@McWonderBeast This is right up your alley join the conversation.
you know as well as I do that’s not true . The EU Has have huge control politically .
For example its responsible for 70% of our laws . And you showed that in your own post when you source the EU overriding our own courts and telling us what we can and can’t do .
What the fuck has our intelligence set up got to do with trade ?
No we don’t , it’s disgusting . Thankfully many business leaders are coming out in the UK literally by the day saying we don’t need the EU what so ever and in fact would do far better outside of it .
But to me it’s not even the economic side of it , it’s principle as a british citzsen I want to be governed by british courts and british laws that follow the values of the UK not of fucking Belgium .
Millions have died throught history for us to remain British in every sense and now we have just given it away without a fight.
I just hope the UK votes to leave in 2016/2017 and we can actually be British again .
Sure when a Muslim kills people, he’s a tiny portion of extremists. But if a white guy kills blacks, its the “violence white American must answer for”. Such fucking left wing horse shit. I’m not kidding there was a news source that said that quote about the church shooting.
That’s why it seems sometimes I’m dodging your question . Because I’m on my phone and their is literally not point in me even attempting to give a proper reply from a phone
Funny guy, invade the U.S of A? I honestly don’ think there would be a country harder to invade. Maybe Russia, but Russia doesn’t have our population size or the amount of fire arms.
