Not at all, it’s a huge issue for big cities like that in the U.S. Someone is killed in Chicago every hour so for the cops it’s just a routine call really.
Because the police either don’t give a fuck, or the department in many cases is very undermanned. Police stations here tend to be in the middle of the city with all the sky scrapers, high income areas which have low crime. The crime ridden ghettos tend to be in the industrial parts of the city which can be a good 25-30 minute drive from the police station.

It’s really an issue for the whole country. My mother has had to call the police for what i thought was a very serious situation twice. Once when i was little, and my father was gone off god knows where, and the dog triggered the alarm by bumping the lower lock on my back door. My mom barricaded us in my bedroom and called the police saying someone was in the house.
Close to 30 fucking minutes later the police showed up.
The second time was a 3 years ago. Me my mother and sister were visiting relatives in the southern part of my state in a small town. We went out to dinner and came back late at night to my great grand mothers house. We opened the door and noticed things scattered all over and the window open with the screen off.
Of course we thought someone had broken in i grabbed a knife and went to check on my great grandma who was pretty much in a coma like state (she died a few months later) i decided to call the police before checking through the basement and they showed up close to 20 minutes later.
Their dog sniffed around and they checked and no one was to be found. Turns out one of my great grandmothers care takers had opened the windows and strong winds had blown the screen off and knocked a bunch of stuff over.
Had there been a full grown man in that house who tried to hurt us i’m not sure i would have been able to do much and the fact that police took that long to get their was an eye opener for me.
