The priesthood is a right that is given to young men (around thirteen I believe, similar to Jewish traditions of manhood) receiving the priesthood gives you the ability to lay hands on heads and bestow blessings.
The force is to Jedi, the priesthood is to LDS Mormons.
I never actually did any of these things growing up that was about the age I started having chronic issues with depression and anxiety so I was to scared to do the things you had to do (like blessing sacrament (bless bread and water over an intercom for the whole congregation)).
