Troll cave II

U.K. As a whole . That’s plenty .

They are taking over static armed police drills freeing up armed police units to patrol and hunt down the cell [quote=“SirWarriant, post:4828, topic:27880”]
Is martial law in place? I can’t think of a time in recent history (past 50 years) where the military has been deployed after an attack here, although i think it’s actually illegal to deploy the army on the streets here. It seems to be a common reaction in Europe.

No you just have the national guard which is basically the army don’t kid yourself .

The military is there to protect from all threats I see no issue with deploying the army in these kinds of situations .

They will be under the same instructions as the police .

The French were there as the army and a separate security unit . Our military units have been absorbed into the police force so will operate alongside the police as a single unit as such .

Eh, sort of. There main role is domestic issues, disaster relief, severe rioting, ect, which sets them aside from the rest of the military. The army cannot be deployed on U.S streets unless it’s insurrection, and the only time that was done was during the Detroit riots in the late 60s, when looters had stolen thousands of rifles from gun stores and were pretty much snipping cops from every building. The Airborne was deployed, and even some tanks, but that was very different since it was pretty much full blown urban warfare.

Oh i don’t either. But if the issue is because the police lack enough fire arms to go around then that’s a big issue don’t you think?

again you’re kidding yourself you have a designated militarily equipped unit that deals with domestic problems . the are the army in everything but name .

we are not rich enough for such luxuries so we just have to use the army

its not an issue of lack of just guns its an issue of a lack of resources overall .

Pardon my French but that is jackshit number for entire UK.

its all the police have requested .

remember they are there only to support the police not take over from them . more soldiers are of course available should the police decide they need more but i doubt it.

when i was in the military we did rotations for this role and which time the QRF force was 5,000 soldiers , however in 2015 the government announced they would expand this to 10,000 by 2020 so as of right now the police would have a QRF force available to them of somewhere between 5-10,000 troops .

3,800 so far mobilised , which is plenty enough to free up static armed police units across the country .

It’s probably cultural thing. Having “highest terror threat level” would mean here that even office cops carry, all street cops have SBRs/assault rifles and most CC permit holders carry too (many with rifle in the trunk).

Those are national guard. Their sole purpose is to handle domestic issues that are beyond capabilities of law enforcement. We have not deployed the “Army” to our streets in a very long time. In fact it’s illegal, except under circumstances such as full blown insurrection.

The Army is primarily used for combat. Combat is one of the last things the national guard is meant for, they’re more akin to a state run militia, and do disaster relief. They aren’t “active” like the army either, they are always “reserve”.

Although they are deployed sometimes overseas.

Surly the U.K could afford a national guard like system. But to be honest it might be due to our size here since there are so many states it makes them necessary.

Yes, becuse you have a national guard, but most countries don´t have something like this.

The National guard is deployed overseas in large numbers (roughly 1/6th to 1/3rd of the total deployment, with a similar number from the Army reserve, in nearly all conflicts The National Guard is a part of the army with major combat formations of Brigade and Division, equipped with all normal combat equipment for the unit role. Their tanks may sometimes be a little out of date, but even an older M1 is superior to many vehicles that first line militaries elsewhere have available. There is also a large air NG.

Nope . We have a number of angencies which are meant to deal with flooding etc but they normally can’t cope so the government sends the army to help . Always greatly appreciated by the locals

Special forces being so openly involved in raids is rather surprising. ( The last guy is just army bomb disposal )

(They won’t be included in the 3,800 number neither would military police )

What a guy!

Never denied any of this. Doesn’t change the fact that their main purpose is still domestic issues.

I thought you said a while back in a conversation we had, that the U.K had something similar, and they were sent overseas as National guard are too.

For fuck’s sake what do you expect? They literally get several thousand migrants crossing Mediterranean from Libya every fucking day. Every fucking day.

And you have certain NGOs now, who are literally going to the waters right off the Libya coast picking migrants, and bring them to Sicily.

I am no mall ninja but the way they parade by the windows seems to defy sanity.

Nothing like a high powered rifle to deal with threat in crowded environment where people have no way of avoiding cross fire.

We have the army reserve which is made up of part time soldiers but they are an formal part of the military no a special unit of any kind

More shopping to do on Monday. Finally gonna visit the gun shop with best advertisement in Europe.
