do you have a source for that . i cannot find anything that suggests this .
not sure on all the stats but its certainly gone up since he has taken over . mostly down to him trying to please minorities such as the low income black communities by taking a softer approach to them .
Most of my life i have known police to stop and search and move on any group of youth in hoodies hanging around on a street corner . this was hugely effective , however came with anger from the black community because they felt it was targeted at them .
Sadiq has stopped this pretty much completely resulting in youths feeling alot more confident carrying a knife . For the most part it really doesnt effect the middle class and above living in more wealthy areas of london . Social housing estates however are certainly more dangerous under labour control than they were under conservative control.
That all being said it is certainly true that the police are now alot more effective at recording crimes , where as before many crimes would never get recorded in the statistics.
As for police not investigating petty crimes . its true and not true at the same time . My fiancees parents home was robbed about a year ago now while they were out , they returned home to find the front door dead locked from inside and had to get in through the back . No sign of any break in .
Police turned up had a look around . then sent in some forensics who took finger prints , boot marks etc . they data base all of this but in reality what was taken was worth a few thousand and no real trace of who did it so they dont waste their time .
if someone is caught down the line matching the finger prints taken they can be connected to the crime .
unfortunately for my father in law because their was no sign of a break in the insurance wouldn’t pay out and he had to replace the lot ! (about 1k in cash , 3 laptops and some jewellery . biggest loss being his work laptop which had priceless info on )
In the years before Khan became mayor the numbers had fallen significantly – the Tories had got the numbers down to between 10 and 15 deaths of young people per year from over 30.
