Vertical slice graphics 'controversy'

I don’t even care much about graphics, I can play Crysis 3 as well as Mount & Blade and enjoy the latter a tad or two more. What persuaded me into pre-ordering Watchdogs was the setting and the manipulation of your environment. The whole “supreme graphics” thing is just the icing on the PC-cake for me. I only hope Ubisoft will stick with Steam this time and abandon Ugh-play, as they did with South Park - The Stick of Truth.

As for KCD I didn’t even feel the graphics were that good in the scenes I saw. I was amazed by the nature, like when Dan walks up to the castle in the live stream I just want to jump into that foliage on the right, but that’s more of a general design achievement, not exactly one of the graphics department. Some textures and models (the characters) looked rather raw to me, but thats just natural in that early state. So no, I don’t think that it’s polished (beside maybe there isn’t anything behind that foliage… yet).

kcd alpha already looks better than every rpg eve made. the reason it doesn’t stand out is because there are not fireballs, hollywood effects typical in rpg games.

it’s very easy to make a game look pretty by just throwing “wow” effects everywhere instead of making a world that reflects reality.

you do that, and barely anyone bats and eye. its “too” real. thankfully i appreciate games that are as real as possible.

i respectfully disagree - i do not think that KCD in its current iteration is has best graphics ‘evarh’ - but as this subject can very subjective (what do you compare ? on which rig? which resolution & other settings?), we might agree to disagree; also i do not link greatness with amount of fireballs whishing on the screen…

re watch dogs brouhaha - there weren’t that many wow’s - just e.g. initially very great looking car chase graphics dumbed down to PS2 graphics…
