i think they use small print or other forms of pressure to get the more lucrative devs to conform. because a lot of these restrictions aren’t very intuitive and don’t make sense outside the context of some other type of demand or pressure. why is there a 30 fps lock on the pc version of assassins creed unity, for example? 30 fps locks are a thing specific to consoles because of their power disadvantage, as well as the way tv renders fps, so why has it been imported to pc? it smells very much like someone who doesn’t understand anything about fps pressuring a developer to maintain “parity”.
That’s what im thinking too.
Warhorse will blow the E3
Its kinda cozy here right now
I don’t believe the developers should sacrifice graphics for the PC due to consoles, I recall when Watch_Dogs was announced by Ubisoft and it was very clear that many users were in constant contact with the developers on forums and reddit and it seemed like they kept promising that no downgrades would occur, we were also told that the game would be developed primarily for the PC and would be ported to consoles. Clearly when the game came out, you could tell there were massive downgrades from missing shadow effects to depth of field, texture downgrades, the city looked quite bland until someone released the worse mod which helped with some of the graphical effects but it was clear that Ubisoft didn’t want to admit that they downgraded the game to function on consoles and not make the PC Version look too different and my speculation is they didn’t want sales affected on console. The fact that their PR continued to defend it is sad and wouldn’t admit to it. I don’t know about the Witcher 3 as I haven’t played it.
In regards to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a lot of us backed the game because we support the developers and many of us are PC gamers that were hoping that developers would take notice of the PC as a primary system again similar to what we are seeing with star citizen. I am confident there won’t be compromises, obviously graphics don’t make a game but the amount of time and attention to detail and even the alpha shows the game looks amazing and hopefully the developers will continue to go through with that, i don’t know why anyone would be pushing for a downgrade but if we want to see what a game is capable of, I believe that nothing should hold it back. I’m confident that E3 will be a success and like what I see in the game so far.
