Can't even start Alpha

Are you an Administrator? If not, try to run Steam as admin.

Yes, I’m Admin.

Anyway, I tried to run both, Steam and the game (Game.exe > compatibility > run as admin), as admin.
Either nothing happens or the “Preparing” window pops up (forced steam.exe as admin) or “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)” appears (forced Game.exe as admin).

So, no difference.

I can confirm that I get the same:
Running:
i5-4690k
8GB
GTX 560
Win 7 ultimate

FYI second posting of this issue here: Alpha crashed before it even started

EDIT: I resolved the issue for myself. I had re-installed Windows (7 ultimate) recently and hadn’t realised that I still didn’t have service pack 1. So I ran all important Windows updates (which required a restart) and I could then get the game to start

I already had SP1 but I installed some additional updates (which were deemed as important) myself and had to restart windows. But since nothing had changed for the better, I just didn’t add this information later on.

Added DxDiag

First I had the same Problem (same error message as TO)
Tried to reboot and reinstall the game. Both didn’t work. Also start as admin didn’t help.

After that I install Win7 SP1. Not Helping
At last I downloaded VC2013 Package found here
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

I downloaded the vcredist_x64.exe file. After starting that it said that the library is already installed. But I chose the Repair button. After the repair progress the game started succesfully (even without admin).

My specs:

Win7 x64 Prof.
i5 - 4670
8 GB Ram
GTX 460

lucky , I tried this and still no worky yet

Got the same issue, it says that msvcr120.dll is the fault module, i still got it after doing everything above p_q

I also had this problem before the start problem described above.

I have two msvcr120.dll files on my PC. One in SysWOW64 folder and one in System32 folder with another file size. So I backed up the one in System32 and copy the one from SysWOW64 to System32.

if I put the msvcr120.dll of SysWOW64 in Sytem32 I spend of the error 0xc000001d to 0xc000007b

I did the VC 2013 redist x64 (repair) thing and now it works.
I think when I first tried to start the game it didn’t install properly.

But in my native res at max settings its only 10 fps in game. :frowning:
I tried to sprint -> DXGI blabla

Btw the first thing I turned of immediately was motion blur.
Was very aggressive!
r_motionblur 0

Of course, if it’s trying to use 32bit DLL it will get the 64bit one.
No surprise it’s crashing.

Did you try to repair/install both, 32 and 64bit versions of VC 2013?

made with 32 and 64 but no change

Maybe try the VC redists of other years as well?
You can see them in the picture in my first post.
I don’t know if it will work, just a guess.

Or try un- and re-install both, 32 and 64bit?

i have all VC redists … and install reinstall version 32 and 64 and reinstall game but no change

Ok, then your problem lies somewhere else.

So, what happens if you put msvcr120.dll from System32 to SysWOW64?
Just the other way around.

same error 0xc000001d

Same here, maybe slightly different bug, maybe not.

Tried the VC redlist 64 thing but no difference.
All my other games work.

GTX 980
Intel 4790K
Win 7 Ult
Irish

Also tried to copying around the msvcr120.dll ? for me it helped with this kind of error.

I can’t play it either  “Can’t run the game - unknown error” says my Steam…
