The console community and DLC

okay if you don’t like consoles then why post on this topic? it specifically says console community. please stop spamming on this topic.

unfortunately, i still have to spam too

and one thing that just done me over with consoles vs pc and made me want to get a console is
1 EVERYONE IS EQUAL. Everyone has same graphics, so no one can have an advantage over you. and cost? all i had to do was to trade in ps3 to my local pawn shop and get trade for a ps4 with 100 bucks off of it. (overall, 300 bucks to pay for)
2 does graphics REALLY matter? i played cod finest hour the other day and i havent had as much fun with games in TEN YEARS!!! its the gameplay that matters. sure, you’re pretty much getting screwed buying a console that has “crappy graphics” vs getting a computer that is same price but still, graphics don’t really matter too much. On computers you have viruses which ALLWAYS get on your computer one way or another.

ok im done ranting ^^ don’t get me wrong, i do like computers because of the games they do have on them (like red orchestra: darkest hour and arma 2 ect) but i get tired of people saying that consoles are crap. There is a reason why people like consoles and people like pc’s. My thoughts about it is that console people whether they realize it or not are equal. To me, thats the best thing about them.

Woah hey there back up. I wasn’t insulting consoles i was just informing @Pengman19 that pcs are not as expensive as he thought.

I thought graphics didn’t matter, and since when do they give you an advantage over other players?

Again i never said any of this in my post. Yeah you’re right graphics don’t make the game good but they can make the overall experience of the game better. And please console people are always bragging about their exclusives having good graphics so lets not go there.
And if you’re getting viruses on your computer you should stop looking at so much porn. If you have virus protection you wont have to worry about it. Ive had my pc for 5 years and haven’t gotten hundreds of viruses.

i was implying to anyone else that wanted to rant about pc’s vs consoles this is not against you lol! i guess i accidentally clicked the wrong reply? sorry about that.

good big or go home :sunglasses: go all out on a PC you wont regret it , mine cost me all together about £1500 ($2243.09 )
and its worth every penny . i used to have an xbox but after going through go knows how many after they kept breaking i decided to bite the bullet and go all out on a gaming pc and its a much better gaming experience which is down to the mods for a large part as they can keep a game fresh , you wont get that on console for a long long time and when you do you will no doubt have to pay

Although i may envy for your pc that kind of price is really not needed to get a pc that out performs the consoles. 500 bucks will do it.

None of this is the point guys. I’m wondering about this game uploading modding packages since it is designing most of its own software or at least upload popular mods as DLC. Kind of like what skyrim did and made it to where you could adopt kids and build a house of your own BC of the modding communities

As has been mentioned before this is very unlikely to happen without a charge if at all.

As a side note the ability to adopt children and build homes was an addon developed by Bethesda and had nothing to do with the modding community and unless you bought the complete or GOTY edition it was an additional charge.

As far as I know there has never been a modding system for consoles, aside from level editors and other tools created by the dev for the purpose of making content for the game.

Overall its a really cool Idea and it would be awesome to see happen however highly unlikely.

One way to cheat around DLC is to use updates. Then in the options menu have an option that says " Community Mods " and have the top 10 or whatever to select which ones you want to activate. IDK if this is legal though.

This has never been true. Not even slightly. Consoles have always lagged.

This has never been a thing, or true, not even slightly. Ever.

The perceived cheapness of the console is exactly that. a perception. It’s a walled garden which has escalated the cost of games through the ceiling whilst also reducing consumer choice alongside the introduction of ridiculous service charges.

OT: If you’re going to commit to a console, you don’t get to bemoan a lack of choice or modability.

My apologizes i assumed it used to be much more expensive.

Yes it is a thing. The X1 software and hardware (and PS4, PS3, 360, etc.) is the same for everybody’s system. That’s a fact. So you optimize the game to efficiently–and preferably to the maximum-- utilize the software and hardware that everyone’s system has. This isn’t a debate

PC’s have different configurations, so you cannot optimize a game specifically for one setup, because it might not work as well for another. It doesn’t mean it won’t work on both, or that it can’t work well on both. It just means that it wasn’t specifically made to work on one particular setup.

My computer can already run it on max with 50 to 60 fps and it was 700 dollars, still a bit pricey but three hundred dollars is three hundred dollars and the game isnt even optomized yet!

I run the alpha at around 60 at medium settings. I can put it higher put it crashes almost instantly if i set it to high. I only spent around 550 on mine. 700 bucks will get you a top of the line pc that you wont have to upgrade for longer than an entire console generation. Ive only had to replace one part in my pc and ive had it for 4 years.

How bout you link some places where you’re buying these “top of the line” PCs for under $1,000. I would seriously be interested in seeing what’s available.

I know when I did research to buy my laptop, I was also looking at desktops and all-in-ones, etc., and I didn’t see anything that was <1,000 that I deemed “top of the line”.

I haven’t built a PC in 10 years, so I’m not really interested in that, but if that’s what you’re alluding to, then I don’t believe that counts when comparing to purchasing a console (since buying a console requires no technical expertise, etc.)

There is an enormous gap between removing content/using static assets/hiding reduced polygon count with bumped up HDR and “optimisation”.

Console ports are synonymous with carpy graphics and gameplay for a very good reason and it has zip, zero, nada to do with “optimisation”.

Cop out. Complete cop out.

A laptop is not a gaming machine. It’s an over-priced, moderately acceptable, facsimile of one. If you can’t be bothered to invest 15 minutes to plug kit together, keep on consoling.

I’ll stick to my $5 AAA titles with their mods and ancillary benefits rendered in 2560x1440 on my “hugely complicated” rig.

I don’t know if my sentence structure is hard to understand, but I never said consoles ought to be compared to laptops.

I said, "I know when I did research to buy my laptop, I was also looking at
desktops and all-in-ones, etc., and I didn’t see anything that was
<1,000 that I deemed “top of the line”.

Buying the parts to build a desktop is different than buying a desktop that’s already built. So when comparing purchasing a console to a PC, it’s not a good comparison when it involves putting it together. In terms of price difference to get up and running, those are not comparable. It’s completely erroneous to call that a cop out.

And to suggest someone can’t be bothered to put a desktop together, that’s a really unfair thing to say. Some people literally can’t put one together, or simply do not trust their ability to do so.

Buying one is always more expensive. You can easily beat a next gen console for under 600 bucks by building a pc.

This one according to the guy who picked out the parts is better than both next gen consoles and he spent under 500. There are tons and tons you can find mainly on reddit.

Cooler, mouse? And usually ppl buy soundcard & dvd-rom anyway.
P.S. I’m PC gamer, hate console.

Both of those items are pretty cheap. The mouse would be cheaper than a controller you would have to buy and the cooler would be cheaper or around the same price as paying for one month of online fee for the consoles.
