I hope they will not ā€œforceā€ the dog. I really dont want to load last save every time the dog diesā€¦

I like the goal if itā€™s implemented in a meaningful way.

A dog companion in an RPG should mean that the dog offers some new ways of gameplay and quest solving. For example you could use your dog to intimidate people in town where it is forbidden to draw a weapon. Or he could help you with hunting animals to get food. I donā€™t think that the dogs necessarily should be used in battle since that could cause some problems with gameplay design and player agency. But I believe in Warhorse and their vision that they will find a meaningful and fitting way to implement a dog as a possible companion.

Doesnā€™t excite me all that much, but a lot of other people seem keen - and I do understand Warhorseā€™s point about the tight budget.

I like dogs, and having a medieval timey wardog/companion is neat and I really like this idea, but I donā€™t really think its worth being the 1million SG

The dog not too bad but I prefer the possibility of manage a castle or introduce the heraldry to the families of the game through an internet application for personalize the game (not to put penises on flags  ) or better, make the swords customizations more deep, where we can choose the cross-guard, grip, pommel and blade separately and get unique combinations of strength, weight, cut, tip, etc

You donā€™t even know what they have already planned for crafting and customizationā€¦

So they could make it the 1m goal and not have to do any extra work! It would still be a nicer thing to look forward to.

I hope our dog will need fight training as well. And could learn some ā€œspecial skillsā€ that could be teached for us, like pushing to the ground an opponent, or creating a distraction while we sneak or maybe bite one arm of an enemy to disarm him. Or maybe if we donā€™t want a war dog, teaching him to hunt.

It can be nice if it is well implemented, otherwise can be a disaster like usually happen with companions in most games.

@PerroYverde - I think you hit on an interesting idea. Along with the crafting there could be a profession for canine training. You could teach it how to respond to various commands which then become available during the game. Theyā€™d need to keep it simple as real animal training takes quite a bit of time but this could be an intriguing idea.

Yes I know it but I donā€™t think that the customization of weapons will be so complex, surely it be reduces to gather the elements for make the sword and the minigame to forge it.

Hopefully the game be so from the beginning (deep customization)

think it would be awesome if you could have a squire

Seeing as Mr Vavra apparently has a soft spot for dags, I call their bluff and predict that even if the stretch goal is not reached, dags will be in the game!

Ok, how does this work exactly.

Does this mean itā€™s optional?

I hate dogs. Biting monsters. I hope you are not forced to have oneā€¦

I want a co-op gameplay. Not with the normal story, but with a few quests. Would be ok when it comes as a patch after the game is ready. But that would be great. Fighting against real players.

What about co-op where the 2nd player plays as the dog?
:dog:

Having a dog sounds like a great idea. Canā€™t wait even more now

Personally, I like the idea of having a dog in the game, also they are releasing it on next gen consoles, I cannot wait for this game. Iā€™m just so glad that people have all pledged so much money towards this project - go Warhorse!
