Agree. However, I know from experience that things can change very quickly. Well … relatively quickly, as in a few months. WH has to commit to a disciplined testing process. The process has to be a whole team effort, not a single QA guy desperately trying to keep up with what development throws at him. it can be done. Whether it is done or not will depend on whether WH decides to become a disciplined coding shop or what they are today.
It’s not realistic to claim this game is playable. Maybe it is playable for you if you don’t care about immersion or story. Just skip the cut scenes that disappeared now, or just let Theresa alone because she won’t talk anymore. And there are a lot of more things to mention, just look at all these topics on this forum.
So it might be playable for you but not for others.
AAA titles that are finished are 60$, beta games should not have this price tag.
Did we already have a clear answer? There is thread stating IS a joke but this thread says its kind of a joke…so confused
definitely a joke. other threads also approve/confirm.
As much as I enjoyed the game in it’s bug-ridden form, I do regret paying full price for it and I wish I had just waited a year or so and picked it up for cheap once WH have (hopefully) ironed out the kinks.
Sadly however I paid AAA prices for an early access game, and if WH don’t get around to fixing it before they try and release a new game, I’m going to be properly pissed. You guys earned a lot of money from this unfinished title, and you had better put it to good use and fix your game.
It was playable before 1.4. Even the bigger bugs didn’t bother me before (Ginger won’t leave his hut? No problem, the quest continues. House of God won’t save after killing Zmola? Let the guards kill him instead, etc.) Now I literally can’t do anything. I refuse to fail Pestilence just so I can continue the game. But I still believe that this is a wonderful game. The developers just need to get their sh*t together and properly test each patch before they force it on us.
Except those of us like the OP CAN’T play our games thanks to the latest 1.4.1 update fixing/breaking content that it wasn’t supposed to fix/break. Which btw, makes the game 100% unplayable, and top reason why players like the OP are so $#!^&@#! pissed off. Why can’t you understand and/or just accept that? Stop trying to down play the chronic issues ppl are experiencing across all platforms. Just be thankful that you belong to a select few gamers with negligible issues. When you see complaint threads like this, recognize they don’t $%#@!*&%#@ apply to you and move on.
Yes. It most definitely does depend on AAA status. No. This comment proves you most definitely do not get anything.
O.K.
1.KCD is a large game with a large scope, world and story.
2.Skyrim is an even more vastly larger game, with an even more vastly larger scope, vastly larger multiple world spaces and story. Unlike KCD, Skyrim’s story is the 5th installment chapter of a deeply rich, 24 human year old lore which goes back to 1994 (AKA before the creation dawn era of the console).
3.Despite all the vanilla bugs at launch (NONE which were 100% MQ breaking across ALL platforms & many that have not been fixed to date) Skyrim has held–and continues to hold–massive gamer interest and loyalty to the TES franchise brand to date. Despite its unrealistic fantasy elements, Skyrim & SSE combined rank 15/100 in PC gaming popularity on Steam to date. Period..
4.Skyrim was marketed at the average PC retail of $60 USD to date. Has continued to hold its value because player on both PC & console continue playing to make it so.
5.Since you apparently didn’t know, $60 USD (with an ~ $50 min threshold) has become the industry benchmark standard for a AAA title. At least in the PC retail market. Whenever a software dev releases a game at that price point, they’re signaling to the gaming community that this is a AAA release. Period. The average PC gamer would NOT consider a realism survivalist $35 title like The Long Dark a AAA title. Nevermind a $15 early access release like The Forest. Both are too niche and lacking in broader fan base appeal to be AAA.
Still confused? Research the release cost of these popular franchise titles: Fallout, Witcher (Polish dev), Dragon Age, GTA, and Castle Wolfenstein. These are all AAA titles released by well known & established AAA level software developers AKA gaming industry LEVIATHANS. Who possess significantly greater QA/QC resource support. Support that is 100% independent of the software dev team producing the game. Hell even Dark Souls continues to trend better than KCD to date and yet DS is a niche market game by default of its unforgiving gameplay design?
6.Consequently, Skyrim >>> KCD in both PC & console popularity. For these reasons,
7.Skyrim is a AAA title. KCD is not.
BTW: By default of its sheer worldspace scale, MQ, side/faction quests, insane degree of customization, high environment/worldspace interactivity, diverse factions (many which player can join), limitless sandbox potential, modability, and replayability, Skyrim has the broader fan base appeal. And will continue to dominate the industry for all the above reasons. Long after KCD exits the fickle consciousness of both PC and console gamers.
Still in doubt? KCD currently down ranked to 77 /100 on the steam list to date (right about where The Long Dark was shortly before it permanently fell off the Steam popularity list). This is just the trending in the Steam PC gamer population, which accounted for 60% of the total copies sold in the first 48 hours of game release. Have no idea what this trend is in the console realm. But if the Bugs/Gameplay forums are any indicator, then KCD has become unplayable for both Xbox and PS4 gamers alike to date.
I read somewhere from someone inside WH that said KCD isn’t strictly a AAA title, but rather, it bridges the gap from what it is now, on the way to AAA. Sadly I’ve never played skyrim, but consoles have been around way before 1994. Not that it matters in relation to the 1.4 patch but heyho.
It’s not a zero sum situation
An obvious issue. Users can help or not.
OK you win
I’ve given up trying to figure out how to make Margarita from lemons
Simply not worth the cyber. Nosebleed anymore.
If you were referring to the Atari and Commodore 64, then yes those aren’t consoles. By any stretch of the immagination.
They’ve vintage works of art and far superior to any Holbein or Rembrandt or Picasso IMO
i got you bruh!

maybe after a few of those you wont notice the bugs anymore
Damn. You’re the man (or woman)
Thanks for the happy hour. I really needed that and owe you one. Cheers
Goes well with roasted bohemian duck leg
Btw, recommend Don Julio Reposado over 1800
honestly though, people are rushing the shit outta this. its not gunna be fixed in a month. it just came out in February. im guessing maybe in july if were lucky. thats 6 months from release. the people who want everything working perfectly right now NOW now should just shelf the game . no game i ever played in the last 20 years was ever flawless a month later. and please stop comparing wh to billion dollar companies like Bethesda and rock star thats just retarded. alot of you have been gaming longer then me, i would consider myself a “hardcore gamer” with 20 years of pc gaming experience. i would never buy a game with in the 1st 3 months of realease expecting everything to be just peachy, if you did that shame on you because all i see every day is 60 dollars this and 60 dollars that lol . idealistically 6 months and the game should be some what smooth i would hope. but im probably way more optimistic then others .
ps when people are pissed that they cant play because of what ever reason im on your side i agree, you have the right to be mad. when i see warhorse post more on fucking twitter then there own forums that pisses me off. when i see them promise a date for a patch then a week goes by with no verbal update on progress that pisses me off lol .when i see warhorse’s patch notes barely listing fixes but saying they fixed hundreds that pisses me off, i want to see everything.
Agree with all you said.
Meanwhile it would help to appease some eager/invested users. My 2 cents (actual value much less) … WH could benefit from veni vidi vici on the MQ bug front: ‘ok guys and gals. We’re getting a lot of feedback about 3 gamebreaking MQ bugs. They are A, B, and C. We hear you. And accordingly, the next release will have fixes for all 3; we’ll also roll out some enhancements as well as some side quest and other bug fixes.’
when i played eso, as horrible and broken as that game was on release, i will say there great at customer service and at keeping there forums updated and what not. i guess thats one plus about being a billion dollar corporation.
With commodore 64 being a computer, i was more on the atari console side. Although i did have an ST back in the day. With first generation consoles starting around early 1970s. Was still sucking titty then, still do of course, just not as much unfortunately.
