A beginners guide to lockpicking

So i know alot of people are complaining about the lockpicking system being flawed or not realistic or too difficult. I dont really have a opinion about it, i just found MY way to work around the “problem”.

I know that the developers are talking about remaking lockpicking in the game…or i Think there is(?). But until then i made a Quick beginners guide on how to atleast make it somewhat easier.
I´ve played the game(quite far) but restarted so i can make Youtube videos to help others out that find the game to be “too hard”.

Either way, here´s the video i made today, maybe some of you already know these things but im hoping it´s helpuf maybe for someone new to the game.

If you like the video, please support me in my new hobby by watching some of my other videos or subscribing :sunny:

P.s
Im a backer and i absolutly love the game, sure there are some flaws but what game doesnt have them. ANd the developers seem hard at work to workout the issues.

You got something good going on here! Great video and other videos, You got my support!

Thanks i appreciate it! I love gaming and i thought i would like to be a bit more creative, so combining the two got me to start making youtubevideos. Its not much, but i Think its fun, and hope that the content will help some people out.

I have a video on how to find the wine cellar for the quest next to godliness that seems to be popular, seems that its helpful for some :slight_smile:

I’m slowly getting there but still find lockpicking insanely hard, i can’t wait to see what they do with it! i managed to pick this lock after about an hour of trying, then picked the very easy lock round the corner and the chest inside.

On another note, when i have seen other tutorials on this same scene, Henry is always wearing really good gear. When I am at this stage, I hardly have any clothing at all. Where are you getting the armour from?

Hmmm on this playthrough i stole it in TALMBERG, in this video to be exact.

Thats where i also get my first bow!
So yeah, after you Wake up in Rattay, you have to chech your chest next to the bed. All the stuff, exept food and sir radzigs sword will be there.

Thanks, will have to pay a visit back there!

No problem, check out my videos if you got the time :slight_smile:

That chest is listed as EASY but when you load the lock mini-game it says that the lock is too difficult for you (at level 0 skill). Best to start with a VERY EASY lock.

In the RUN! and/or Homecoming quests there are two VERY EASY locks. One on a chest in the middle level of the gate tower in Talmburg . The second is on the front door of a house in Rovna/Skalitz near the third bandit/looter on the left side of the road. A third is the door on the building to the left as you exit miller Peshek’s house.

These are much easier to pick at level 0 skill. At level one easy locks are less frustrating.

Cool thanks for the tip, I’ll try and find that chest :slight_smile:

OMG WTF LOL TROLL… you cant even lockpick tutorial chest and you will teach others ?

@Kaunmann
yeah…it,s not really about unlocking the chest hes doing, its about using it for leveling…also if you cared to use your head for other thing than acting like a 12year old you could hear that he has some tips FOR BEGINNNERS! (dumbass)

@Kaunmann Thanks for the very constructive comment…mus have taken you all night to write :rofl:

Btw you know that this game isnt for kids?

Great video! In fact this has just given me an idea…

Instead of starting the rotation of the lock buy pushing up with the right thumb-stick, could you start the rotation of the lock by pushing the right thumb-stick in the direction of the ‘Gold Spot’ so that as you rotate both sticks, they are both in a similar position possibly making it easier for you to move both sticks at the same time?
I cant try this theory as I’m at work lol :slight_smile:

@TRiLoGY

Yea! I see what you mean, that’s a great idea actually! So this ways you move both thumbsticks starting from the same spot…i will have to try that!

Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it :slight_smile:

No problem! Hope it works :slight_smile:

I hated the lockpicking to start with and I wouldn’t mind it changing but since I’ve levelled up and done it more and more i’ve managed to pick every lock first time

It really does get easier once you level up a bit

@jakeychappers

It really does get easier as you level…especially when you unlock some perks!

I tried lockpicking with both sticks in the same direction, but in my opinion, the turning speed is not the same for the two sticks.

I think it might have to do with the way the “gold spot” starts to shake as you get closer to the end of the lock, but I always ended up with a full rotation on my left joystick and my right joystick coming in behind/not needing the full rotate.

Also, has anyone else been having lockpicks break while never moving out of the gold? It’s almost like the hardcoded shaking of the pick breaks it, or I am just missing some type of mechanic :frowning:

Ah ok, thanks for trying it though! :slight_smile:

One tip that I read on these forums somewhere, was to put the controller on the floor (or your lap) and then move each thumb-stick by gripping them with your index finger and thumb… I tried this and it did feel like i had more control over each stick and I was able to be a bit more successful…

Oooh…almost like your joysticks are the actual picks then :smiley: that’s pretty neat.

I also did see another tip to turn off rumble for consoles. But, for me, I want it there for the rest of the game so I ignored it, but I can see how much that could help
