I was shooting chumps again (if you don’t, you probably should if you’d like to level up your bow skill in a hurry) and noticed something funny about a competitor’s archery. Check out the position of the bow string and the curvature of his bow with his bow drawn!
Can you really level your bow skill with that? Because i thought you can only level up by shooting animals or people. For example when I hunt rabbits my bow and hunting skill increases. But when I´m doing a bow tournament in Rattay my bow skill does not move a bit.
I’ve also seen it with Henry, not only NPC’s
it seems like the animation is bugged sometimes
I dont get skillpoints either when I do archery tournament
Noticed this as well. The first time around, the animations work just fine; however, if you ask to shoot again, the animation is broken. When you give it some time and come back and ask again, the animation works again…
(and yes, you can level your bow skill shooting at targets like these or stationary targets during contests)
Well, i looked at my bow level and progress bar bevore the tournament (progress was 43%). Avter I had done an easy tournament I looked and it was still 43%
Yes - shooting at targets at Ratay or the camp in Merhojed doesn’t increase bow skill. And they are busted - after a contest or two one or both of the competing players stop shooting requiring you to forfeit the competition by moving or waiting two hours.
Chumps is a different animal. I’ve spent around 2.5 game days shooting chumps and leveled Henry from level 8 with a bow to level 14.
But, you have to win. And winning at chumps isn’t easy for lower levels of skill. If you bet 50 groshen for each contest, you can go from level 9 to level 10 in around 3 contests. As your level rises, it takes longer to level up.
So shoot rabbits and deer until you’re level 6 or 7 then go try chumps.
And if kill someone with a bow, always check to see if their bow is better than yours. I’m currently using a Cuman bow rated 72 instead of the village bow from the hunting camp that was maybe half that. I’d also suggest buying piercing arrows when ever your in a tow with a trader.
At level 12 you should be able to kill unarmored opponents with one shot. I went over to Runt’s camp (going north from talmburg) and managed to kill all the guards that were patrolling the creek. A couple I one shotted when hiding in the bushers on the east side of the creek!
I haven’t had a chance to try a bow level 14 Henry against Cumans / Bandits yet. I would expect him to be even more lethal.
