A small question about the new combat system video

The video looks great.
However, I have a small question: could you guys make the enemy’s behavior more accurate? I mean, after I slashed an enemy, his action should be slow and act like a wounded man, right? In the video, all enemies are fighting like normal soldier after they get hit. The blood are coming out, but nothing more. This scene looks very unreal and weird.

I hope the develop team can make the system more real and detailed in the future. I understand the system is not finished, so I’m looking forward to see more. This is just a little suggestion.

another thing is that yo can apparently stab guy through plate armour

I had similar questions in regards to what the reaction of the enemy when he’s taken a hit. I understand it may be alpha and just a placeholder but would like to know if targets will react realistically when struck.

I’d be interested to see how far they go in terms of realism with injuries as well.

Also, the way the blood comes off of the enemy kind of irked me. Doesn’t look realistic. Someone mentioned the blood effects in a game called “Overgrowth” in a previous post. Those blood effects are awesome.

I think it is in pre-alpha stage, keep in mind that the game still has two years of development to final release if it is not delayed.

So, be patient with the small details, with the clunky animation transition, the armour that can’t be pierced, etc… those things come later.

You know this is footage from pre-alpha state, right?

I understand this very well. However, pre-alpha stage shall not prevent us from offering suggestions. It is the backers duty to provide feelings about the game, no matter whether the game has finished or not. The earlier we let them know the problem, the better game we will finally get.

You are correct. But you are not pointing on some details in beta, but stuff which even doesn’t matter now, because and again it’s pre-alpha and a lot of stuff is far from completion and everybody knows it.

Well, everybody knows, but no one points it out. What I’m doing is offering suggestions. Honestly, no one knows the specific plan about the development, so all we can do is continuing offering suggestions and ideas. I’m speaking out right now, and I will definitely speak out about more problems in beta. This is the only way we can involve in this game. So, let’s not worry too much, and speak out our own ideas. It will be more fun. The forum will be more fun. Cheers!

I would prefer the possibility to choose the attack and block direction via the combination of mouse button and the direction of mouse movement as in m&b warband. Here I understand the block direction is automatic and what about the attack direction? At least that would be great. Anyway if its different here doesnt matter much, there is m&b bannerlord coming for this purpose and the KC:D combat system I beleive will be interesting to try.

they showed in the video that there are 6 areas you can target when attacking.

Its an pre, pre , pre , pre, pre, pre work in progress, pre alpha video. I’m honestly surprised they have this much done already. I wouldnt be concerned about the AI behaviour. If you saw the wounded knight who was shot by arrow. That was pretty awesome behaviour of trying to get up, but failing.

On the other hand, if your blows dont penetrate the armor, it has no sense of him acting like a wounded man. And that means even if hes struck a minor - medium wound. Adrenalin in combat wouldnt let you slow down untill after taking a serious damage.

I give kudos to this suggesition. I was personally going to suggest it anyway.

Giving feedback is the best opportunity for developers to get new ides and explore possibilities. I understand that what is shown in the video is a pre pre pre pre pre alpha version, but here is my point.

It would not be useful to invest so much efforts in performance motion captures, in the hiring and coordination of masters of combats, and in an improved combat system, if it final result was just the typical “elder scroll” combat system, in which the opponent is more or less the same (maybe a little more slowed down) after receiving a couple of wounds.

Understand that if I receive a cut to the right arm, for example, I will have even problems to lift a sword, if it’s a broadsword or heavier. My defence will be less effective from the first blood I lose.

Again, I’m perfectly clear with the fact that this is a very early version of the game, but I think it would be a grat value proposition if the study was not only made on combat, but also on the combat effects, like someone suggested before me.

Please someone from devs could enlighten me - what shchool of fencing will be presented ingame? Will it be what remains of Johannes Lichtenauer’s knowledge? Or maybe some Italian art?
It would be exciting to learn some of existing in the past true fencing art (or even a few its elements)…

Hi
Who knows which game is “The Forest”? bah, it’s not important…
This game have the best IA in this moment, his enemies, when they attack in group, have a strategy (few strategies) when attacked. They also have feelings/emotions such as when you kill the friend of an enemy, it is possible that this enemy became a berserk, or enter in panic and flee, o started crying or change his attack strategy etc etc a lot of possibilities.
