All that glisters/King's silver constant CTD 1.8.1

The two quest “The King’s Silver” & “All that glisters” and going anywhere near Rovna or talking to lord feyfar at this point in the story, i cannot progress because of the crashing issue. started this game with 2 dlcs on version 1.7.x (the one right before 1.8 and BoB dlc released)

Before i reached this point - and running around the map with out going near rovna or lord zadvig after starting or completing pestilence, the game runs fine. no issues up til this point.

Adding mods - did not fix it.
Removed mods - did not fix it.
Verified game files - did nothing.
Started from previous saves - did not fix it.
Deleted all saves up till today - did nothing.
Changes graphic and audio settings - did nothing.
Completed Pestilence & wanderasian(spellcheck) - did nothing.
Talked to sir radzig and then feyfar - nothing.
Talked to sir radzig & went near rovna - nothing.

all roads lead to crashing. game is unplayable because i can’t progress and now the game stops responding for a minute when i load a save because it has crashed so many times while trying to get around it. probably corrupted, which is a bummer because it’s a new game since right before patch 1.8. - and now the game crashes trying to load the saves after starting All that glisters/King’s Silver quests.

Edit - i can talk to sir radzig and start the band of bastards dlc just fine but if i select “is there something else i can do for you?” (leads to quest: The king’s silver) or “Events in merhoejed.” ( leads to quest: all that glisters.), the game will crash as soon as the dialog ends (or cutscene if i choose the latter) and saves wont load afterwards.

Update: reverted to an earlier save before curing the villagers and talked to sir radzig to start the quest “A king’s silvr”. then proceeded to talk to feyfar and went to the mines, where i started to ctd after the first cutscene where im told to escape.

further more if i ignore the mines and interrogate the prisoner and then report to radzig to start the quest “all that glisters” i am able to find the ambush and talk to the red cap etc everything as normal, up till i go near skatliz where i ctd again anyways because im a fool for getting hopes up.

Now there seems to be something new in the logs. four (4) instances of CryAnimation: character-definition not found: objects/characters/assets/doors/wooden_door_02_left.cdf

I wanted to tack on here that I had both of these quests running and once completed started having constant CTDs. Something that may or may not correlate. (don’t know because after the first crash I fast traveled to complete these quests) The high boots invisible bug caused an initial CTD once I switched to new gear and closed the menu)

PS: I sent up an email w/ logs and save attached, I’ll reply to my various posts if they actually come back with anything.

yeah, i did the same. it’s just a matter of waiting and doing other things for now.

How much playtime on the newest patch do each of you have? We’ve noticed severe crash issues after a certain amount of play time on the save in another thread

20* hours.

You are correct. replayed from the 19.1 hour save.

-Went straight to Sir radzig and got the king’s silver quest. went straight to skalitz and inspected the camp, coal and mines, escaped quickly and went and started & finished pestilence, took the prisoner to rattay jail, turned in the king’s silver quest and went back to sir radzig and told him about the events. started all that glisters, found the cart and inspected the blood, followed it; talked to baryon, chased and fought and talked to ulrich. went back to rattay to talk to feyfar.

Skipped through cutscenes and dialog carefully, fast traveled when possible and quickly killed bandits etc. now i am at the 20.1 hour mark and started waldensians. (which i started before Pestilence before i had issues previously) and now at 20.7 hour mark, crashing to desktop has returned randomly. so it’s good to know it’s not (possibly) a quest related issue or something.
