Alpha archery issues

When using the bow in the alpha last night i noticed the bow swayed way to much. I was wondering if that was just temporary seeing how it is alpha or is that how the archery is going to look in the main game.

Vavra said in one of the streams that this was intentional, because those things are hard to draw back.

I understand that but it seems a little ridiculous that they sway that much. If you look up people shooting 110-180lb war bows they dont even sway that much.

Maybe your character skills up archery and gets more stability

Yeah thats what i was thinking but i still think the sway should be taken out. Instead they should add trembling and make it to where you can only hold it back for a few seconds till you get your strength up.

I actually quite like this system. In Mount and Blade I always exploit archery and wait with drawn bow for the moment my foe uncovers. This seems quite good and you can actually get used to it and shoot quite accurate. Ahem, my record is about 22-25 points (don’t remember exactly) but I tried it just few times.

I got a score of 24 once but it is a bit unrealistic on how much it moves unless its tied to a skill and that decreases as you level

I think you all are missing the point i like how there is no reticle and how it is difficult to hit the bulls eye but the sway un realistic if they took that away it would be perfect.

Well the sway seems to be really quite harsh but perhaps it is based on skill level? You can also balance it by mouse / controller movement. Perhaps they are afraid archery would be overpowered otherwise.

Yeah i hope it is based on skill level. But i think they should put another penalty in for not having high strength, stamina, or bow skill. A good thing to do would have the bow tremble not sway when you pulled it back. Another thing they could do is that the higher skill you have in archery or the higher your strength or stamina is lets you keep the bow drawn a bit longer or if you have lower stats you can barley have it at full draw for more than a few seconds.

To be honest the video I seen of archery looks to me exactly like someone who has some slight experience with bows and shooting with a bow he can just barely draw. My accuracy with my only attempt at archery looked really similar.

Yeah but the bow wouldn’t sway like that even if you had no experience shooting with a bow with a heavy draw weight. The bow might tremble but the bow wouldn’t sway.

This isn’t an archery issue per se. Or, at least it has nothing to do with the shooting.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the bowmaster (or master archer, or teacher, or whatever) will not hesitate to shoot you right in the face if you stand in front of him while he’s practicing?

Just something I found curious and here seemed a better place to mention it than the Alpha Bugs thread.

Yeah ive noticed that

I hope it’s skillabased, but not ingame, I scored 30 in my forth try. It’s not that hard to aim, Got i screenshot of when I shoot a guy in the back of the head from a rooftop. First attempt

As of everything, you need practice to be good. I like the feeling of the bow, no crosshair or such, it’s just pure skill (maybe little luck)

got 30 on my third attempt
found how to aim the bow u have to use the fourth knuckle and the elevation of the arrow to judge where itll hit.
plus i like how well programmed the arch on the arrows are. it doesn’t drop too much or too little

I like the system, it presents a interesting challenge, in the end I scored 29. Taking the bow to the Blacksmith was the best part.

Yeah im completely with you guys but the sway is unrealistic. If they took that out the archery would be much more realistic. The sway just doesn’t make any sense what so ever. Other than that i really like the archery and think it is fun.

But arrows go up after you first shoot them then they start to drop so not having either of those would be unrealistic.
