There is a bug that’s been around since launch.
I couldn’t get wine and food from the saddle when I was hunting with Capon. This was the first game breaker or almost I read somewhere that you can sleep and then the quests continue. I did that and at first it worked. But now the whole ambush happened where I am supposed to ride with Bernard which I can’t because I cannot mount any horse anymore. Pebbles,too. So yeah game breaker. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS! This game is out for six month and a dlc was released, too.
SIX MONTH!! And there are still game breakers. This game is the worst. Never had anything like it. And I’m playing games since the 90s! FIX IT!!!
1st, what are you playing on and what patch?
I am on PC and have had no problems with the mission in any patches. I have given his spoiled bratness his meal. I have hunted the hares, done the boar hunt with out a horse and with a horse. I have snipered the cumans, went melee with them, snuck in and freed his bratyness. All with mods too.
Cold it be at your end? using any mods? Corrupted save file? bad patch load? using an old save file? tried a fresh install?
If from Steam or GoG verify the files?

If a game is going to get your blood pressure up, as this one seems to have, maybe it’s time to take a break from it?
I was as angry as you. I think it was Patch 1.43 that did it for me.
My solution? Went out an experienced the real world for about 6 weeks.
Came back and found a patch (1.5) that I can live with.
Waiting for another I can live with. Waiting…waiting…

You should consider loading save before starting quest and before you noticed the first flaw of game. Then if you are using any mods, do not blame your broken state of game. I personally did not have problem with your quest, neither saw other people complain about it.
You don’t have to ride with him. On hardcore I was really weak and I found it easier to let him ride off and then go find him on foot.I could sneak up on the bandits and take one out then fight the other, one on one, rather than being thrust straight into combat after a cut scene.
It was a fresh install on steam. No mods. 1.6.2
Well you know It is not a mod or something. It is a product I bought. These people are not my friends. They are just a company that provided a very faulty product. I expected it to work at launch which it didn’t. And even after six month I have to kill another run because of the complete incompetence of this team.
This thing is I live a very demanding life and had my first real vacation in a year. And because the heat is so extreme I had to cancel most of my plans and thought “you know let’s try KC:D again” and that is where the trouble started. And even before this game breaking bug I had a lot of graphical glitches and the like.
The important part of your comment is “if”. What are you some company white knight so delusional that you attack people who complain about a dysfunctional product?! It may be hard for you to grasp but what you experience can differ from my experience or other people. Yeah shocking, I know.

As I explained. I already did that and the problem happened later in the game.
Did you start a new game or are you using an old save file? If you are using a patch 1.4 save file you will have to start over or revert to an older save file 1.34 (I think).
The reason they ask about mods is the easy lockpicking mod is notorious for causing bugs in the game.
I started a new game with a fresh install and the most recent patch 1.6.2.

Sounds like your life is normally rather stressful and your vacation was not much better.
Unfortunately WHS can’t fix or change that, nor can anyone on this blog.
I was very upset with the game a few months back, but then realized, “It is just a game. It’s for entertainment. It’s suppose to be fun, If it’s broke, stop playing it. Give WHS time to fix the problems.” And that’s what I did.
I put the game aside for about 6 weeks, and then loaded patch 1.5. The game has been working fine with no game breaking problems. It still has some minor issues, but should I let them spoil the fun? No!
I look at it this way. If i had lost the amount of money I paid for this game, would I let that loss spoil one hour,of my life? Fuck No!
I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Would you?
But I get it. You’re playing this cool game and really getting into it, and it fucks up.

If it happens again, take my advice.
Stop playing this game. Fine another game that you enjoy. Better yet, take a walk. Or Sit down and have a conversation with some real people. Go to your favorite restaurant with friends for a good meal.
I see too many people that seem to get really upset about things of little importance, and this game nor any other game should be as important as it appears to be to many people here.
It’s just a game.
The real game is out there in the real world.
Try to enjoy it and not let it stress you out to the point it’s not fun.
Life is too short to get stressed out about the small stuff, and most of it is just small stuff.
The point is to know the difference.

I really don’t share this attitude. I didn’t lose my money. I gave it to warhorse studios and they promised a working game which was either a deliberate lie or complete ignorance on their part.
The greed and incompetence leaves me with a feeling of utter loathing. Especially now when they start to crank out dlcs. And you are right I work in a very demanding field where I have to sink my teeth into stuff and keep at it. These people wronged me and I will not forget nor forgive.
Is there any part of the economical sphere where people so sheepishly accept broken promises and barely usable products?! No.
Plus the guy who is the lead of this project (Vavra?) is a hardcore mister scrooge like capitalist. So let him have a little consumer feedback for is complete inability to deliver.
I reinstalled and went back to an earlier save and for no apparent reason it worked (kind of) but I already have two side quests that are broken.
Aquarius is the most recent. Antonia followed me to the bailiffs room and after that disappeared and I cannot end the quest.
AND SO MANY GRAPHICAL GLITCHES! It looks like my body armor is having angry sex with itself.
And to your comment that I should come back later and have fun elsewhere. I actually did that and came back after 4 month thinking now it must be relatively fine.
It wasn’t.
The wine and food can be picked from the Capons saddle. You just have to target one smaller saddlebag, not saddle itself.
Well, if it is any consolation, I’m still running on Patch 1.5 and holding there.
I’m afraid of loading the latest patch because of the new problems people seem to be encountering with it.
I was watching a YouTube video about Patch 1.62 and thought I heard him say this patch fixed some things in the DLC? I don’t have the DLC and I’m sure most people don’t have it yet.
If WHS actually did this, I would be upset knowing that this data is taking up space on my XBox One, when I don’t need it or want it there.
I just started Far Cry 4 and I’m having fun.
It’s a “shooter” game, and I don’t normally play them for very long because of boredom.
I’ve watched a couple of FC4 videos on YouTube and the game looks very interesting.
Time will tell.
If you haven’t played, you should try it.
It’s an older game. Got it for $19.98 USD.
Graphics are better in several ways than KCD and this came is 4 years old!
No pop-ins or problem with loading distance. No stutter!
Actual resolution and visual quality of objects is outstanding!
Scenery and lighting…great!
I’ll play it until I get tired of the graphics, which might take a while!
