Armor, working logical

I’m sorry for my English.

So…

We know that we have a type of armor "Hauberk"in the game.
Hauberk does not protect hands.
But he must give protection to his hands.
if Hauberk is long…
Аnd give the same protection on the body and on the hands.

Is this logical?

What do you think?

A Hauberk is a coat of mail that protects neck, shoulders, torso and arms. If you want hand protection, wear gloves/gauntlets

Амм, it’s good…

but I think it is necessary to observe logic in the physical aspect…
It’s pure logic…

If Hauberk covers the hands, why did he not protect his hands?

Yes, but it does in fact not cover the hands. So I’m not sure what you mean.

Long Hauberk with long sleeves… But he doesn’t protect his hands. It’s not logical…

by 1403 mail shirts did not cover the hands. (they where covered by gauntlets)
to find mail that cover the hands with mittens we need to go back to the 1100-1200 period.

the hands are not the same as the upper and lower arm, if you look at the shirt you (probably) wear right now, does it cover your hands?

@ThomasAagaard wait, has there ever been hauberks that cover the hands? that seems impractical. I have only seen separate “gloves” being used, not attached to the rest.

The game has a long and short Hauberk… So? Long Hauberk is no different from a short Hauberk… Long chain mail with long sleeves, which should protect the hands. But long Hauberk doesn’t protect hands. It’s hard to translate from Russian to English

Yes, I have the long hauberk. But she doesn’t protect her hands. And the character model shows that the mail closes hands

If you can upload a screenshot of your character when it only have the hauberk equipped it would probably be easier to know what you mean.

Edit: Ok, i think I know what you mean. Not sure why the long version don’t have a +1 to arm armour, as that would indeed make sense.

Yes, Yes, Yes my friend!

You know what I mean.

yes, go back to the 1100-1200 period and they had mailmittens that was part of the shirt.
mail on the outside of the hand, thin leather on the inside with a slid in it so you could get your hands out of them, if you needed to use your hands.
Separate mail gloves was most likely only is use for a very short period of time… since they where replaced with gauntlets. (this is a detail very few reenactors get right)

but by 1403 they had been replaced by plate gauntlets

Good example how having one word for both an arm and a hand in one language may cause confusion while speaking English.

Anyway. Thanks for pointing out @Denarm

Thank You…

I’ll be careful next time.

Armor points for the character’s hands.

I wanted to say that.

Hands? That is palms and fingers.
I think you mean part that is covered by long sleeves and those are called arms

Yes!!!

Yes, arm!

I now understand where the “arm” and “hand”…

Thank you.

You understand me well!!!
