How do you repair used armour elements and weapons ?
You go to Armoursmith, Weaponsmith, Blacksmith, Tailor (clothing) and Cobbler (shoes), talk to him and ask about repairs. Costs some money.
You can also find / buy repair kits for each weapon/armor/cloth type. Buy each kit type from the related professional. Repair kits can not repair items after they are too damaged, only professionals fix them then.

You need higher maintanence skills to fix up badly repaired gear.
Tailor Kits repair gambeson
Armour kits repair armor
Blacksmith kits repair weapons
Cobbler Kits repair boots if you have unarmored boots.
I noticed higher quality kits also allow you to repair more badly dmged equipment over the “small” counter parts.
There is an issue currently with armourer kit needed to repair fabric clothing, like hats, and fabric-only items (padded armors for example).
It’s somehow annoying since armourer kits are (in my first part of the game so far) harder to find than tailor/cobbler kits.
There should be one more tab for items, like “clothing” separated from “armor”. It will eventually come, someone confirmed that in another thread.

Tailor and cobbler kits are easy to find at the right vendors. Cobblers and Tailors always sell them.
You get all repair kits from Rattay. Armorsmith, weaponsmith/blacksmith, tailor and cobbler shops are there. Very easy to come by, if you just have the money for them.
