Attn: Warhorse... Don't forget future tourism!

Just a suggestion…

It occurs to me that since the game locations are based on real locations, as you visit them, might be cool to document just a bit on the assumption that some of us that make it to the area (I have family in Ukraine, Prague is a just pleasant train ride away when I visit) might want to visit the actual locations.

You could begin compiling something of a ‘KC: D Tour Guide’ by noting locations and how they tie to the game. Maybe a short doc to put on the website for anyone heading to the area.

Just a humble suggestion.

Thanks,
Dave

they’re a game company, not a touring house

Understood… Not asking them to go out their way at all. Just don’t toss out all the notes and one of these days a page on the website with some of this info would be great.

It would make much more sense to share these notes and other “making of” stuff with pledgers as a part of some collector edition.

Actually they said in one of the video updates that they want to offer their reconstructions of real places to institutions in the area, so you will be probably able to see the terrain and go through the original game castle on-screen when touring the real castle. Then it is just a stone throw away from allowing this to be done on a website.

That’s cool, kind of payback I suppose… the locations let them have access to build the game… now they can help the locations with the virtual recreation…

I think the locations are all fairly close to them…

And I really don’t need much of an excuse to go to Prague…

But once this game is released and takes the gaming world by storm, particularly on consoles where, frankly, they may not see this coming, more than a few people might want to check these locations out.

I don’t want them to start running a tour business, just keep some notes about the locations with an eye towards gaming geeks wanting to go there one day.

Having something we can look at online or whatever they may end up doing would be cool - I definitely like seeing real-world inspirations when possible - but I have my doubts it’s going to lead to a sudden influx of people scrambling to take trips out to the Czech Republic to see places responsible for making KCD. I know there will be more than just Americans playing the game and it would be easier for people already in Europe to visit some spots, of course.

One of the problems that the Czech tourism suffers from right now is that 95% of foreigners go to Prague and not beyond. I agree that huge crowds are unlikely to start coming to Rataje castle just because of the game, but for gamers having a long weekend in Prague topped by a couple of days around Sázava in the places where the game takes place is quite a nice possibility.

You need to understand that the Czech Republic has many charms that draw very varying and different people to it. For example, there are many Brits who fly to Prague a few times a year just to be able to legally shoot various firearms. If going to range can be a good enough reasons to travel 1000kms, why not going to a castle

Yep… dying to get out more myself.

Prague is easy for me, that’s all. Pleasant train ride and I’m there (when I am already over there visiting). I am assuming the locations are fairly close to Prague, but outside of Prague, giving me and excuse to explore out and about some more.

As for shooting ranges… well, when I am not living in Europe, I live in Arizona… from a European’s perspective… kinda ‘wild west’ out here regarding gun laws… So Czech shooting ranges don’t really do anything for me personally

I love Music, I love good beer. This makes Prague a pretty happy place in my world

But yes, agree completely, I need to see more of the country… and look forward to doing so.

I don’t even know when I’ll be next out that way… but I know I will be there again.

Sázava you say? time to do some research…

Nice idea… we’ll keep that in mind

It’s looking like the Codex stretch goal is more or less covering this request… groovy

oh, that does not underestimate, there were at Stronghold 1 article in the newspaper about the modded castles, even critical, of course, were indeed German castles
Will not trigger the mass movement, but it sure helps in the marketing of this region.

OK, I know Warhorse didn’t do the Codex because of this thread…

But the Codex is exactly what I was asking for and more… And now we have it. I am considering this a wish fulfilled. Thanks to Warhorse for doing it, and thanks to the backers that pushed it over the goal.

It wasn’t Warhorse granting a personal request… but man, it sure feels like it… I’m stoked. And apparently need to start planning my next trip to the Czech Republic…
