3 separate playthroughs I have never been able to advance beyond this quest. I do not use any mods. The game always treats the bandits as allies. I have noticed it every time i find reeky the bandits never attack me, as well as when finding Timmy. I have drank with godwin, I have fought godwin, I have passed his speech check. The game always treats bandits as allies so the quest fails when they die. It does not matter if I kill them, it does not matter if I let the soldiers kill them. something is causing the game to glitch out and it isn’t the interaction with godwin. Tried every variable with sabotage and men. as I said 3 seperate times I have started a new game only for the baptism by fire quest to stop me. and again NO MODS ARE USED.
Have you used a trainer?

Could you send me a save from the beginning of the battle?
We know about two causes that triggered this issue.
One was a bug that was fixed in 1.3 (or 1.4, i am no entirely sure now) and the second was caused by a mod/trainer
If something else is happening here I would love to know.

Mine fails the mission just after the first set of bandits have been killed. It treats them as allies, so even if none of my men have died, I still fail.
It fails faster if I kill the bandits myself, if I just watch, they get to the second part and then fail when more bandits die, so it definitely think’s they’re allies. 
Are you on PC?
Have you used a trainer or a mod?
If yes you have probablly broken your save.

I’ve tried it without first as I was just playing for the first time, then with a trainer afterwards to check if it was my character that was just bad (low level, not sabotaged enough etc) just to god mode it basically. Failed almost immediately on every attempt. I’m on over 20 attempts now trying different methods and managed to get a bit further along to when they run up the hill after the first objective. Definitely can’t get further than that.
Thanks for this. Do you know the status of side quests etc, is it just the main questline that has been played on this save?
I may have gotten lucky, but this questline was awesome. My only complaint was the sabotage part after finding the camp. No amount of stealth seemed to allow me to sabotage anything without waking the camp. In all fairness, I didn’t try dressing up as a Cuman nor did I try to be creative in other ways.

WHAT does not work? Which plattform? Which version of the game do you play?
Do you have mods installed? Or have you used a trainer?
If yes, deinstall the mods and try again!

No mods, but I have used trainer.
When I load the save, and start to fight Runt, it freezes.
If you haven’t dump the trainer and go back to a save before using it. It prolly is the cause corrupting a save. !.6 have screwed a few mods and Ashes DLC HATES all mods.
