I haven’t seen this question anywhere. Since it’s based on realism and it requires you to eat and sleep; will Henry have to use the bathroom and shower?
Well, you don’t ‘need’ to wash. But if you don’t for an extended period of time, chances are that will impact peoples perception of you in a negative way. And vice versa… I’d imagine this to work in conjunction with the current clothing system and how that relates to NPC’s impression or overall perception of Henry. Assuming of course you can wash or bathe…
As to having to use the privy, we’ve already seen this implemented for an NPC in the beta for a specific quest. The guy was literally dying on the toilet… quite amusing
Whether or not this means that Henry will have to in order to survive, still remains an unknown.
You surely need to wash clothes for better impression stats. But I don’t think there is stat for smell and toilet specifically. It is overall impresion which is except other things based on your clothing and its cleanliness.
There is a stat I saw in one of the recent video updates that read, something like, ‘‘Manly Odour: the longer you go without washing, the higher your Charisma when talking to women. However, you are no longer able to sneak, as your odour attracts all enemies in the area to your location.’’
Not sure if this is like what you’re asking for.
All men see you miles away, but women are attracted. Logic.
Hopefully this is not true… ???
Its poorly worded.
In fact it just modifies your charisma stat when talking to women and increases your conspicousness (I think) when sneaking. It certainly doesn´t make sneaking impossible, you will just be little bit easier to detect.
Lesson here: wash yourself before you go stealing!
It was more concerning the manly odour. I sincerely doubt that medieval women were more attracted to smelly men. In fact, there are written records from early medieval england, that the vikings ‘stole’ the english women because norse men had better hygiene than their english counterparts. I doubt there was any period in time where women were attracted to dirty unhygienic males.
If that’s a feature in game i would like to see some evidence if anyone can point me to it.
Accounts of Anglo-Saxons describing the Vikings who attacked and ultimately settled in England suggest the Vikings might be considered to be ‘clean-freaks’, because they would bathe once a week. This was at a time when an Anglo-Saxon might only bath once or twice a year. In fact the original meaning of Scandinavian words for Saturday (laurdag / lørdag / lördag) was ‘Washing Day’.
A later writing often credited to the Abbot of St. Albans reports that “thanks to their habit of combing their hair every day, of bathing every Saturday and regularly changing their clothes, were able to undermine the virtue of married women and even seduce the daughters of nobles to be their mistresses.”
With the reek and smell of the medieval cities and countrysides i sincerely doubt that anybody could smell so bad as to giving themselves away. It just seems like a weird feature. Why not make it so as the more clean you are, the more charisma you get when dealing with anyone, not just women? That would be more sensible and realistic. The other way around just seem silly and absolutely unrealistic. That is why i hope its a misunderstanding.
