Beating Runt in the tutorial

I’m heavily winning the fight against Runt in the tutorial after grinding throughout it, but I’m not able to actually kill him. So my question is this: Is he scripted to be unbeatable or am I just bad?

PS:This is the second time I ask this, because I got no response the first time.

Well he took me out in 2 hits so i figured he was unbearable

in the tutorial he should knock you out
you must’ve been grinding a lot if you can already beat him in the tutorial

Scripted. You’ll see him again.

I know, it was in a second playthrough, but a lot of people that are supposed to be better than you can be beaten and killed, just Runt doesn’t seem to be such.

yes when its your second playthrough you know why
actually runt is the only npc that you have to kill in the game afaik

It’s not really that hard, he attacks very slow and barely defends at all. He goes to very low health and when I think he should die he gets a different attack rhythm suddenly and hits me. 3 hits take me out.

Would be neat if you could beat him then and there were a short couple of quests after taking him out, where you just deliver the sword to Radzig and then get tossed into the world to do sidequests. There’s a few other instances of stuff like that, such as burning to death in jail if you manage to get caught by the guards doing something illegal before Sigusmund raids Skalitz.

tbh i wouldn’t mind if he were beatable, but as soon as you do one of his lackeys knocks you out from behind to preserve the continuity. maybe a scenario like that could result in a different cutscene before the church duel if nothing else.

You can probably knock him out with headcracker, and take all his gear. He will never fall below 0HP though.

In my first playthrough Grunt was very hard to beat too! But in my second attempt I asked myself “what would Henry do?” The answer -> Practice, practice and more practice. I realized that Henry was a son of a blacksmith, he didnt know how to fight at all. Just like me, he dont know how to swing a sword, he is a noob! So I tried to figure out what Henry really wants… He wants Revenge. And If you want revenge, you should practice! In my second playthrough I beat Grunt like a Pig! It was so immersive, because of all my training, that I entered the Bossfight with 100% Health. I didnt use the Bow, I kicked his ass like he deserved it! In my first playtrough every Cuman Camp was REALLY Heavy to clear. Now Im playing with his anger and hate for those bastards who killed his family… And I’m really good at killing those godless creatures. Even 5 of them wont even do damage to me or my armor…

Of corse you cannot beat Runt first time you meet him: the whole Main Quest is to find a “certain” sword he stoled from you. If you kill him in Prologue—>No main quest—>no game

i got 3 clean overheads on his unprotected head
i dunno weather Henry got too much Soy in his blood to actually do damage with a sword
or simply this is scripted, but considered you’ll ALAWYS go down with thrust animation to your face

my money is on script (would be a nice little easteregg if we CAN beat him)

Well, in such a case I think you should still join lord Radzig’s command, because “you did such good work” and the whole game could continue, just without looking for the sword and maybe with Prybislavitz being a lot more messy and thus easier because they have a different commander.

I meant in the tutorial, not Prybislativs. That time where he hits you with the big spiked bat.

Not really, the only difference would be that you don’t need to look for the sword and that Prybislavitz would be a lot easier because it doesn’t have such a good commander.

Yeah, they should’ve made him stronger, or rather faster, so he can block attacks better. Because if you really grind it does seem as if you should be able to win that fight.

Henry does seem to go to a lot of effort for a sword, that while looking good, is actually kind of rubbish compared to other swords in the game. It’s heavy. Has low damage. Low charisma. It’s basically junk.
