Finding this quest annoying as fuck, what’s best way to experience all its got to offer with as less annoyance as possible, I want to explore and do all the quests but keep getting caught and loosing progress and having to repeat shit over and over
Read the book given to you at your arrival to know your schedule and where you must be. Skip time until your next station once the tasks are done. Use night time to explore around for evidence and do not blow your cover.
Monastery was one of my favourite quest tbh. A very nice undercover mission that actually make sense.

Ok so I must be doing something wrong, is using a torch against the rules by any chance ? Would be nice if they say what I’m being caught for
They do tell you why you are getting caught: you are not following your schedule during the day. Of course, use stealth during the night to avoid waking people up.
Repeat your schedule the following days, as long as needed to find the info you need.
Another tip, explore the cellar under the dormitory at night and join the circators for a drink. They’ll give you a break if you become their drinking buddy, just like in real life

Ok so don’t go off schedule during day and just be stealthy at night. Got it.

I do usualy enjoy these type quests. It’s the save system that’s annoying me with this one.
Well, I believe there is a bed where you can sleep and save each day.
Also, I had no issues with using torches at night. Just do not wake anyone up, as you are supposed to sleep, again according to your schedule
It might be a good idea to hide your stuff in a trunk during the day if you have trouble respecting the schedule. That way, I guess you don’t lose them if you are caught.
Regarding the circators, the other monks will report you to them if they see you at the wrong place, at the wrong time. This is why they seem to know everything.

This explains it, the other monks have been snitching on me.
If on PC and don’t mind mods you can use the cheat mod and console command the invisible function . It means you have zero conspicuness. The command makes it much easier to slink around as they can’t locate you if your gear/clothes are quiet too.

If I sneak outside monestary is it ok if people outside see me then ?
If you are in the initiate dress they will ask you why you are outside. that’s about it. I had previously to the quest opened all the doors and repeatedly snuck out got what I wanted and went back in.
Yeah it’s just I’d allr Ady stole the forbidden books and a few pages
Having a much better time with this quest now guys thx to the tips, the big one was the other monks kept telling on me. Now I allready snuck out then went to prayer and all is good. Got all my stuff. Now I can do wtf I want, well kinda.

Put on quiet clothes, lockpick door to back of monastery, slip upstairs and knife Pious.
Return same way.
The quickest way to complete the quest AND aquiring Pious’ die is to tell him (i.e. Antonius) as soon as possible that you’re looking for Pious.
Then he will poison your food the next morning, and when you wake up after eating it, you tell him that he will die. This will lead to a life and death fist fight between you, and when he’s dead you snitch the die off his corpse and get out of the monastery. Lockpicks can be found behind the church altar.
